National Cat Day was started as a way to bring awareness to homeless cats. We celebration this day on October 29th, every year in the United States.

I am sitting here waiting for the farrier to arrive. It's November 01, and minus 2 C. My cats are in the house doing cat stuff. Two of them want out. I love my kitties.

The farrier is the bravest guy I have met. He will work on the back feet of different horses all day. Sometimes horses are moody and don't like the attention. Got to go.

Thanks for this post Cathy. My neighbor and I are currently working to get 20+ wandered-in barn and carport cats spayed and neutered through Alley Cats in Louisville, KY (alleycats.com). They are affiliated with the Kentucky Humane Society, and offer the service free of charge. Seven taken care of so far. Thanks for caring and best wishes,

You're welcome. I know that's a hard job, some can be very hard to catch. We have a place here that also spays and neuters for free. They trim the tip of one ear to keep track of them.
Yes, Alley Cats does the ear like that, too. They kept one of our 7 for a couple of weeks for observation--he had a respiratory problem and some other issues. A great program. My neighbor wants to domesticate a few and wants to take them to a vet to keep from the ear-tip-nip. We have all but 3 in captivity [barn tack room/cat sancuary :-) ], and will eventually get them all done.

Aww thanks! Awesome post. It is great to be appreciated. Yes we saved many kitties and are foster-parents to them. Last Friday someone adopted the two kittens that we had for quite some time, so we are a bit heartbroken at the moment. But we know they went to a good home. Waiting for the next project to turn up.
Having five cats of our own, we hug kitties everyday, but we celebrate this special day too of course!
