A Lesson Learned!

This is a fictional story about a woman who wanted to earn online.

Once upon a time, there was a woman named Tabby. She was searching for a way to earn online. Then one day she discovered Wealthy Affiliates and was so excited to finally find a program that was legitimate. She started to follow the lessons in the Certification Course and was happily building her website according to what she learned.

Then one day she decided to read some posts and tutorials from other members. "Oh my" she exclaimed. "My website doesn't have any of this stuff they are talking about". Tabby starting thinking that she must be doing something wrong. This opened the door to self-doubt about what she had already accomplished and this soon lead her to feel discouraged. Tabby let herself get so consumed by all this information that without even realizing it she was neglecting her lessons.

Being that Tabby was a new member she didn't realize that the posts and tutorials she was reading were from more experienced people that are way ahead of her in training. Each time Tabby would go back to the lessons she would see that the things that were missing on her website are now being taught to her. She began to see the pattern and realized that the lessons are set up in a way to help you build your site step-by-step without taking leaps and passing by valuable information. Tabby now realized that she should follow every lesson and not get ahead of herself. She thought to herself, this is like teaching a 4-year old math, they can't add the numbers until they learn what numbers are.

Now Tabby is once again happily building her website. She still reads posts and tutorials from other members but now she bookmarks the ones that are ahead of where she is for later use. Tabby has now realized how helpful the WA community can be. She also realized that you can get over consumed with it and neglect your own progress. Tabby found her happy medium and compares it to ice cream. Take the valuable bits and pieces you learn from the community and use it to help build your website, just like putting sprinkles on your ice cream. But remember not to spend too much time doing it or your ice cream will melt.

I'm sure some of the members here can relate to this story. If you are new to WA use this as a lesson and don't let your ice cream melt!

Happy learning,

Glad you enjoyed it. I think many of us have been in her shoes. :)

Thank you for sharing Tabby's story,As a newbie i can certainly relate to tabby's journey. It is all to easy to get caught up reading posts and tutorials, etc and get sidetracked from what should be the primary focus of a newbie..following the training.
I don.t like melted ice cream so i think i will heed Tabby's advice.
Thanks Cathy.

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. I don't like melted ice cream either. :)

You covered the Newbie syndrome so eloquently, skipping steps to move ahead is so, so tempting. Clearly, patience is key, and for the love of God, don't skip steps. Well done!
