How do you Eat an Elephant?

The answer? One piece at a time!

If you take a huge task, such as becoming an affiliate marketer full time, and break it into manageable chunks, you can do it.

If you put too much pressure on yourself, like wanting to know everything, like, yesterday, you will get frustrated and quit.

You just have to remind yourself that Rome wasn't built in a day. It takes time to build new skills and gain general knowledge around an industry or trade. And remember, every trade has its' tricks. Just keep at it, and you will see the fruits of your labour.

I have been with Wealthy Affiliate for a month or so, and have found the learning curve to be pretty steep. This is all unfamiliar territory to me, so I am trying my best to be a sponge.

The community here is great, and I have received both practical help and encouragement along the way. I have found a great deal of value in the encouragement part. Sometimes I question myself, and whether or not I can make this work.

But the more I look at the other websites people are building, and hearing their stories, I am realizing that the only people that fail are those that give up. What one person can do, another can do. The only person that can stop me is me.

So what do I do?

I take everything one step at a time.

If I run into a problem, I try to knock that wall down. And if I can't do it myself, I ask for help.

Einstein is quoted as once saying that trying to do the same thing over and over, and expecting different results is the very height of insanity. It's a popular quote, and lots of people have thrown it in my face as if I have never heard it before on many occassions. No resentment there, I swear.

I would counter that we just described the learning process. And let's not forget about Mr. Walt Disney. He went bankrupt 11 times. And he kept trying and trying and trying. At the same damn thing. Until he did it right, or fortune smiled on him.

Disney had a clear vision of what he wanted. He may not have had resources, or even the right approach to accomplishing his goals, but what he did have was determination. He was motivated. He knew what he wanted.

So I would have to say, if you are not sure if affiliate marketing is for you. That's fine. But you owe it to yourself to go out and find what you do want more than anything. Life is short. Make it what you want it to be. What you need it to be. Don't settle. You'll never be happy.

For myself, I want the time freedom affiliate marketing offers. I firmly believe that the conventional economy is contracting, and the digital economy is growing. It's the right place to be, now more than ever.

Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoyed this post.

Regards,

Steven
