Two Weeks and Counting

Two weeks ago tomorrow I came across WA while searching for something else. (Isn't that always the way!.) I have been looking for an online opportunity for a while, and I came across another one, but they wanted a money commitment that I didn't want to make at the time.

And of course, they weren't going to let me fiddle around to see if it was for me, they wanted lots of money up front, made many impressive comments about how much money they have made, and made a video from one of their very impressive homes to sell me on the idea of shelling out more than I was comfortable with.

I didn't (obviously) buy their deal. For many reasons. One of which is that it always seems that the more people brag about what they have the more suspect they are to me. Scammers are a different lot, and many are charming and can influence the uninitiated by the sheer volume of convincing talk.

I was sad that I didn't feel comfortable buying what they were selling. I felt that I could really do well in an internet business, but not if I had to do it alone, and research by trial and error. I wanted a bit of a blueprint already in place.

So...Here I am. Thank you WA. I have just finished the second part of the training, have a website that doesn't make me want to quit, and I have done it by myself, just by following the lessons and applying them.

That doesn't mean it's been easy. I sometimes go around in circles looking for a way to do something I know can be done. I am finally learning how to navigate the system, although I must admit, parts of it haven't been easy because the lessons are based on a website that has been updated since the videos were made. But what the hey. I just bump around and finally get to where I need to go.

I would ask for help, but I feel that the only to learn is to figure it out myself. I haven't come across anything that I can't do, even if it takes a bit of time to figure out how to do it.

The only thing that I have done a bit differently is image grabbing. As an artist I have utilized the web for images from time to time and I'm going to share a little secret. I have a much easier way than going onto stock websites and trying to find free images.

If you type in what you are looking for in the dialog box on a web browser and then click on "images" underneath it, the page will be instantly populated with different images in that category.

By right clicking on an image you would like to use and scrolling down to "copy image" you can select the image you want. Back at your website, put the cursor where you want to place the image, and simply paste the image in, and voila! you have an image.

If you need to resize you can go to photoshop or another image manipulating program, resize it, make it a JPEG, send it to your desktop and collect it when you are ready for it.

TA DA!

Easy as pie.

In three months I would like to have my first website making money. Because I feel a tad blindfolded by all the things I have never done before that may not happen. It may take longer, but that's okay. I will have learned how to build a site and that is a big deal in itself.

It could be that my niche isn't good. Or maybe that I skipped something that I needed to do. No matter. I will re-work it until I get it right.

At some point, this sucker will work. I have faith. And I also know that in a year or so I will have two, three or even more websites and they will all be making revenues for yours truly.

It may sound trite, but I feel that not only will this be my last business, this will be my best.

I know this because I am willing to work as hard as I need to, do as much research as I need to and share as much as I can during the process so that I am not only held accountable to myself by myself, but by this community at large.
