Going against the tide
When I first started
to look for ways to make money online my family and friends were aghast. How could I - me - their mother - friend - whatever, do such a foolish thing. After all, I didn't know anything about the internet (true). I had no idea how to build a website (also true), and I have never been on social media (sadly true as well).
It's not easy
to stay standing as the waves recede, trying to pull you back into the ocean of mediocrity and accepted ways of making a living. When you are facing one way, and everyone has their back to you, well, sometimes you start to think that maybe they are right.
Maybe this is a scam. Maybe everyone is right when they tell me that I will never make money. Surely it would be easier to just be one of the crowd and not do something so dumb.
I know, because I have heard all the arguments, that everyone is giving me their best advice, but sometimes it would be better if the cacophony of voices would keep their opinions to themselves.
Most people
value a paycheck that is deposited into their bank accounts on a regular basis. They are willing to pay for that paycheck with time spent at a company, making money for someone else.
But there are those of us out there who, because of a need for independence or the belief that there has to be a better way to make a living, who run rogue and decide to take a chance. A chance that hard work and the right information and training can culminate in a successful business.
Over the years I have run into some pretty shady schemes. Usually there is very little real information and lots of dream come true talk. Lots of up selling. Lots of talk. But very little action. Or information, or anything definitive that actually helps build a business.
Well, this buck is stopping here at WA.
There is no need for me to look any farther. I have found what I have been looking for, for a very long time. Every day there is great information, and helpful members who will try to help solve problems. People are willing to share their experiences, offer advice and generally share bits and pieces of their lives.
I still have a long way to go. It seems that every day I am tweaking my website, or older posts. I think that is just the way it is. The internet is a huge place where things change very quickly, and to stay current, redoing things is just how it is.
My first niche
might not be a block buster. Heck, it may not make me much in the way of money, but I can guarantee you that it is worth its weight in gold just because of everything I have learned.
Onward and upward. Thanks to all who have followed me, and for all the advice and information.
Peace
Candace

Your post could have been written by me! I know exactly how you feel and I also know the sense of calm certainty when I feel I'm on the right track/path...
Thank you for the follow and I look forward to reading more about your adventures and accomplishments!

I think that is why we become like family because we all on the same wavelength. We get it!
Its great when we have support outside of WA even if they don't understand, but there definitely is a different language we speak within WA.
I love that we are willing to do things differently and on a platform that is solid in so many ways :)
Awesome share and reminder.
Thank you Candace.

I have received eye rolls or people completely checking out from our conversation when I have tried to explain what I am working on.
I, too, got a lot of pressure, negativity, and scorn from family and friends when I first became a member of the WA family.
Everyone was yelling SCAM!
But, as my website matures - and I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, those doubters are beginning to change their tune - a little at a time.
The proof is in the pudding. Soon that tunnel light will turn into bright sunshine!

Congratulations on all you've already accomplished. You've got a nice, easy-to-read writing style, which will serve you well in your blog. Good for you in staying strong against the naysayers - one day you'll have fun quietly telling them just how much money you make. Oh yes, and I also was asked if this is legal! Yes, it is! Haha
Loved this Candice we can learn how to do anything, just keep on chugging.

Well done you!
