Witnessing The Reason Why
This morning driving to the job where the company controls me, I was reminded of the main reason why I joined Wealthy Affiliate. For 23 years I drove around the streets of Richmond Virginia in a patrol car helping to make the city safe. I drove in the heat, the cold, the sleet, the rain, the snow and every other weather condition one can think of. It pains me to no end to be retired from law enforcement and still driving to work in this traffic. Granted, I work from home three days a week, however, for me that is no concellation.
I think most of us join Wealthy Affiliate hoping at some point we can break free from the ball and chains of working for someone else or to just make additional income to provide for our families and life after retirement. I had not written a post in some time, so, I thought, there it is right in front of me. Cars and breaklights reminding me why I joined Wealthy Affiliate.
Have a great day everyone!

First and foremost, Calvin, thank you for your service. I mean that from the depth of my heart. It is because of the thin blue line that the rest of us can go about our lives and not concern ourselves with the matters of our safety and societal restraint. I do not want to have to fend for myself and protect my rights each and every day, so I rely on the people, like yourself, who have devoted their time and lives to do that so I don't have to. So, thank you so much.
I feel your angst about the reminder as to why you came to WA in the first place. I am not sure if you are referring to Richmond IN of not, but we are in Angola, IN and we are so not liking the weather already, just wasn't ready for it yet. Someone posted the other day about the first snowfall, well to Tina and I the "S" word is like a dirty word anymore. Yes, it is beautiful, but we are alright viewing it in pictures or on TV.
Sorry, Calvin, I didn't mean to go on so much. Thank you for your post and sharing your motivation with us.

Thanks for the kind words Frank & Tina, actually I am in Richmond, Va....I should probably edit that a bit. I retired from law enforcement 12 years ago and to be honest with you I'm glad I did it then. So many officers are being murdered now...just doesn't make any sense.
One of the hardest things to realize as you get older is just how important passive income is.
For the younger folks in WA hang in there and get passive income. You are going to need it! As you get older you don’t want to do the 9-5 anymore. You have to push yourself to go to that job everyday or three days a week or how much ever hours you have to put in. It’s not easy. However I want to encourage everyone to hang in there, manage your time after work and fight to write, post or do training. Have a good weekend!
First off thank you for your service Cal, I may not live in your country but as an ex service man with Her Majesties The Queen Royal Marines for 8 years I can solenly say that when we serve we do it for our fellow men, and that includes every nation no matter their geographic location colour or creed. So, thank you.
Your story is very inspiring and would definitely resonate with members here at WA.
Keep pushing through, the metaphoric ball and chains don't define us.
Have yourself a great day

Thanks Dava, and thank you for your service as well. And I agree, doesn't matter where you serve...it's all the same when helping mankind.
Well, I am retired so I do not have to go on the road unless I want to. But I do need the extra income to supplement my budget and that is why I am here at WA.
Add me to that retired, yet still working group. Hang in there, we're on the right track with WA.
I used to drive my semi in Richmond all the time delivering & Picking up in all weather.
