Affiliate marketing, how it works
So think with me here. How does a car salesman get paid? He earns a commission. Now, how does a realt estate agent get paid? Through commission. Affiliate marketers get paid the same way but with a couple of differences.
The first major difference is that Affiliate marketers promote products over the internet instead of doing everything face to face. This allows them to put everything that needs to be said on a website, blog or review for hundreds, thousands or even millions to see. This allows for more traffic than just working one person at a time which will get your website ranked and allow for you to earn more revenue through more traffic of your website.
The marketer basically chooses a specific niche and writes about it. Whenever somebody goes to the individual's website and clicks on a link he is brought to the main website. Whatever he buys from that company, the company pays him a commission for leading that person there.
The next difference is that you can target more than one group of people at a time. Instead of just being a car salesman, you can promote specific game systems, car parts, kitchen items, jewelry and millions of other things. This allows for potentially more income.
So as you see, normal salesmen and affiliate marketers are not that much different save for th amount of variety that online marketers has and the amount of traffic that they can get.

Awesome Caleb - you've summed up affiliate marketing in a nutshell. When I speak with my elderly parents about one of their friends needing to be a part of WA, my Mum says but it sounds like I'm trying to sell them something. I say but Mum when you find a new and good mechanic that has done great work on your car for a very reasonable price, you can't wait to pass on the contact details. What is the difference Mum? She has no answer. Still love her heaps though! Even though she can't see past this. Bless her, I think it's a difference in age and understanding the internet and what it has to offer.
