It's Time For A Vacation
On August 6th I wrote a post titled, "Well, I Finally Found It". Over the last year I had described to the community the toxic work environment I was trapped in and how I had been searching for a new job.
The interesting part about all of this is, my new boss asked in my interview when I could start if I was selected for the position. I told him I would be on vacation the week of August 12th - 16th and could start on Monday August 19th. Even after telling him I would be on vacation I still got the job. I guess some things are just meant to be.
Anyway, it's been a little over a year since my wife and I have taken a vacation. So, tomorrow we will head to Corolla, N.C. for a week, Sunday to Sunday. Then, I will start my new job on August 20th. Pretty exciting times I think.
My oldest son was set to graduate from Army basic training last August 5th. So, my wife and I decided to make that our vacation by driving from Mechanicsville, Virginia to Lawton, Oklahoma and stop along the way and see some of America. I had taken a trip with my parents when I was twelve years old. We drove out to California and back. That was a trip that took 28 days. Riding on the back seat of 1970 Chrysler Newport was not my idea of fun, however, I guess I saw some pretty cool stuff.
I saw the arch in St Louis, Mt Rushmore and even saw Old Faithful erupt. We took a train ride to the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado, went to Disneyland and saw Seaworld in California. On the ride back I even picked up a piece of tumbleweed in Texas that I kept in my room at home until I moved out of my parent's house.
On our way out to Oklahoma my wife and I did the bourbon trail in Kentucky, saw my Chicago Cubs play in St. Louis and spent one night in Branson, Missouri ( tourist trap
So, next week, I will take plenty of pictures and write a post once we return. I will log in and check things out a few times while we are gone, but, will not be on WA as much as I am usually.
Have a great week everyone!

Hi Cal,
That is great news. Congratulations on your new job. Have a safe and enjoyable trip. Seems August has been quite an active month for you and it is only the 10th.
By the way we made that trip to California from Ontario, Canada many years ago in a 1975 Buick LeSabre convertible. Loved every moment of it. Gas was cheaper back then.
All the best
Michael
Hi Michael, I just remember those long travel days on that back seat. But, we did see some cool things.
Thanks for responding!
I hope you are doing well!

I bet this will be your best vacation yet. You already have the new job in place and the best part is that you do not have to think at all about having to return to a toxic work place. A new beginning. Best of luck to you! Sometimes the grass IS greener on the other side of the fence. 🤣

Hi Michelle, I agree, I've been traveling on nothing but dirt and now it looks like some green grass in my future. We'll see how it goes.
