social media vs website

If only getting onto google was as easy as making your way up the ranks at WA! :-/ I'm enjoying everything I'm learning here. It really is a challenge. I know websites are crucial, but at the same time, are they really as needed as they are made out? What if you can't get into them at all? What if things are really going sideways? Is it the end? I don't believe so, not thanks to social media. Bare with me! I guess it does depend on what you're doing, however, I know a lot of people that are making a living of Instagram alone. They have grown a following, made an ebook or two and are selling through their links on the page, they are also networking with people within their niche and are fast becoming authority sites. I go on their websites, and sure enough, everything is not so new or thorough. It seems all their income, meetings, radio shows, every single event that most of us would dream to have the opportunity of, was presented to them as a result of their social media campaigns. I almost forgot, one girl doesn't even have a website. :-( This isn't the route I want to go, but at least, knowing this, and having friends who successfully do what I've just mentioned makes me hopeful. Social media is easier to get to grips with and is fast and effective. So, no need to worry, one way or anther, I will be getting what I want. :-)
