What to do when this happens?
You're in a popular niche and know it like the back of your hand.
Your content is coming along and you don't run out of ideas.
You type keywords in and they're hugely popular, so you make a string of keywords and get no searches per month.
The overused keywords are boring but have article power of 5 > 6.
None of this is making sense.
The self development niche is massive, it's growing, it has lots of potential.
Try typing a keyword in though and see for yourself. I am getting nowhere.
I look at other sites that are already successful, and I can't see obvious keywords. 6 ways to handle criticism well, for example. Hardly any searches, low article power but they are pulling huge traffic.

I think the key is patience. I am in a similar boat as you and I think it honestly takes time. Building a lot of content, doing all the right things, and not giving up. my niche is baking and there a TONS of food blogger out there. Look for the small victories in the beginning like getting on the first pages of Google. That helps me keep going! Good luck to you
