Clicked 1 box and cut my loading speed in half
Starting out, I had no clue about widgets and plugins and image sizes and page loading speed. Now, I have somewhat of a clue. Or getting closer to a clue. Either way: enough progress to retrace my steps now and then and check a part of my website or a plugin to see if I've been using it the way I should have. Enters the EWWW Image Optimizer.
Today I checked one little box that immediately cut in half the time it takes my website to load. It went from 5.9 seconds (that I didn't like at all) to 2.2 seconds (much better, yay!). So if you're having trouble with loading speed, make sure you check that box and see if it helps you.
The box I'm talking about is in the settings' menu of EWWW Image Optimizer, under the tab ExactDN and says 'Lazy Load'. It makes sure the images that are visible first are loaded first, instead of loading the whole page at once. I knew lazy load existed, but didn't know it was a standard option in EWWW. Until I retraced my steps and it was staring me in the face.

Be careful if you are using Supsystic plugin tables. This is a great option, but with it enabled, my all comparison tables disappear.
For comparison tables and much more, they have 2 plugins with a plethora of tables, free and very useful, have such a table in every post. But as you see there is always a chance for conflict.
Ah oké. And yes, it’s always tricky with plugins. Never know when they decide to stop playing nicely together :-)

I am already using the BJ Lazy Load plugin. I wonder if checking the lazy load box in the EWWW Image Optimizer will interfere with that.
I have no idea if it will. You could try it out (remember to make a back up of your site first) and see what happens.
If EWWW does the trick, I prefer not to have to add another plugin. Because I already have so many 😅
