Hello Community. I am followoing up on a training assigment to writea blog post. One of he example topics is to let everyone know about my progress. So here goes. I joined WA in October, 2019. I chose as my niche topic teaching children and adults to read. I then developed my website to explore this niche.

I made this choice based upon my experience as an attorney in which I observed that many of the people having the most dificulty in life also had below average reading skills. This observation led me to volunteer to teach reading skills to prison inmates preparing to be released from prison. Since much of my law practice involved criminal and civil rights law, I saw repeatedly how low reading skills constituted a real barrier to well-intentioned people struggling to find their way in life. This struggle often led in the case of many people to low level violation of laws, that in turn eventually led to more serious violations of the law, and eventually to a pattern of incarceratin and re-incarceration. I coujld not help but to ponder as to the reasons for this pattern, as I also saw the struggle to succeed in life.

Since working on creating content for my website, I have become aware that more children and adults suffer from a multitude of learning and reading disabilities than I was previously aware of, and that these disabilities follow childeren into adulthood unabated and untreated. This realization has nudged my content writing into a more narrow direction of exploring the nature of these learning/reading disabilites and how they are being confronted by society. What I have also learned is that this is not just a problem in our Amerian society, but is fairly widespread in the world. I include in my website a blog I titled "Teaching news from around the world," in which I highlight articles from world-wide sources discussing how learning/reading disabilities and the problems related to them are being dealt with by other countries and governments.

I am not sure where all of this will take me, but I look forward to the journey. I invite the WA community to join me on this journey.

I think that it's a great niche subject, one that is sure to help many people. Have you considered what types of merchants to include? My suggestions would be book publishers, of course, with books focusing on reading skills and comprehension. When I searched Etsy.com for "learning to read" almost 1400 products showed up in the results. Most were geared towards younger ages, but I'm sure there are some for adult readers as well.

Perhaps have new readers try something like reading then making a recipe. You could link to cookbooks, ingredients and cooking utensils.

Perhaps new readers could study a foreign destination. You could link to foods or items reflecting other cultures.

Perhaps new readers could study sports - things like statistics or analysis of players or games. You could link to team shirts or gifts, biographies of inspirational players, or rules of each sport.

Best wishes on this great topic.

Those are wonderful ideas. My marketing thinking is still in a nascent condition. I never would have made the connections you pointed out. I am not sure yet, but you may have opened my thinking to how this affiliate marketing really works. Thanks for your insightful help.

I work for Awin US, which owns both the Awin.com and ShareASale.com affiliate networks. I spend all day helping publishers identify affiliate programs which fit their sites. I'm so glad you found my suggestions helpful!

This is an definitely a niche. However, who is the audience you are targeting, if a person has reading disability...

Would they be able to find your site?

Can they read your content?

If it is the child or adult that has the disability and you are targeting the parents or family and friends that would be helping them. That makes more sense.

PM me the website. I can give you feedback. I am also a certified curriculum developer/trainer for adult education.

🙃 Stanley

Stanley, you are right about my potential target audience. I have targeted my post content to parents and families of children and adults with disabilities. I have been working on my website to start finding my way. I have not really done much investment in monetizing the site, yet. I would certainly appreciate any insight you might offer. My website is available in the Follow Me section from my profile. I will also PM it to you. Thanks.

I will look at it and get back to you.

Tom.

Teaching kids and adults to read is a great niche and one that I very much relate to!

It is your passion and drive that will enable you to find newer ways everyday to succeed with your niche site. That I believe is the key :))

And we are all here to help. There is so much help here in WA and so many genuine people who have built a career in affiliate marketing, it is simply amazing :))

My best wishes to you for a great 2020!

Padma

Thanks, Padma. Encouragement is always appreciated.

You will probably get in trouble for posting your link, so just turn it into an unlink.
I have been to your site before, and it really is super. I think more people, especially parents and tutors, will do well to study it. :)

I am not sure I understand. I thought I could list my site in my personal blog. You are suggesting that is not the case, correct? I will delete the link from the post until I get clarification. Thanks for the warning.

Stay safe and do something like My website is jump on crypto dot com. Only use your website. I don't think it should be against the rules, but it is.

Cathy. I have removed the website link. I suppose if anyone wants to visit my website it is easy to find. thanks for keeping me on the proverbial straight and narrow.
