Fear - safety & comfort zone

I am today a sleepy old head, something happened in the UK yesterday that has knocked me out of my comfort zone.

I was awake until 05:00 am, trying to resolve some issues, the issues aren't important but the point is that it doesn't take much to unbalance your equilibrium.

There have been a number of members over the last few days that have shared the difficult times that they are experiencing, they have been quite heart wrenching to hear and all you can do is often convey sympathies - you can share the few words but not the experience - we experience things differently.

A few days ago I wrote a post ""emergency!" Wayne the vanishing three - year - old" and in this post a friend of mine today, Sharlee, reminded me of what I said in my post because I had told her I had been up all night - I said "This to will pass."

My day today is not like the last few pleasant day's I have been experiencing, I am quite tired and recalling again, didn't I write something yesterday about getting your quota of rest and shared with the picture of our beautiful little moggy napping. Again for those who didn't get chance to read the post - I am sure you will not be able to resist her one more time.

AND ANOTHER IF YOUR DAY HAS BEEN DIFFICULT

FEAR - SAFETY & COMFORT ZONE

WHY DO HUMANS EXPERIENCE FEAR - CHANGE IS ANOTHER ASPECT OF FEAR

Fear comes in all guises and we all experience some kind of fear at sometimes, bugs, spaces - closed and open, speaking publicly, being cheated upon and even death but some many of experience the trepid CHANGE EXPERIENCE!

The fear of change is a big issue for so many. Years ago I did some research for one of dissertations for my MSc, I studied Facilities Management and I conducted various case studies.

One of my pieces of written work was Computer Integrated Facilities Management into privatized health systems or Trusts as they are called now. One of the biggest issue that the Trusts were experiencing was helping people cope through changing structures and all the complex systems that they had worked through for many years.

NEW MEMBER REFERRALS

The last couple of days I have been considering this aspect of fear and change and how it could potentially be a big stepping stone for a potential new member.

We are all different and we have all experienced different things along our journeys's. We are fortunate in many ways because Wealthy Affiliate have driven their business so far on passion which isn't a fearful thing in any way.

Kyle sent me a video yesterday, "his first live class, learn from my last 14 years", he covers lots of useful information (I RECOMMEND you to have a listen) but he talks about fear briefly and why not to fear your competition because in weeks and months to come we will be the competition.

Sure he talks about money but the concept to me and in respects to SWAGG for example is about generating referrals in a committed and caring way and his big punch line for me is that we are in the MARKET OF DEALING WITH REAL PEOPLE, essentially building relationships before taking money.

OUR MARKET IS THE REAL PEOPLE

PEOPLE AND OUR CREATURE COMFORTS

We naturally enjoy our creature comforts, whatever they are to us. In the case studies of hospital Trusts, thousands of people were naturally in situations which were familiar to them for many years and essentially "hot wired" to the familiar surroundings. It was a big change experience for many.

ONLINE BUSINESS

We may have to be conscious of the these facts and creature comforts and new members are being exposed to new and unfamiliar territory in setting up business in affiliate marketing. Easing new members into Wealthy Affiliate may take time, support and even patience.

Fortunately, for many that join Wealthy Affiliate we realize that it is potentially very exciting, we are safe and free of fear and our survival instincts do not need to kick in and the racing heart, rapid breathing and spikes in energy are all positive!

AND THEN IT'S ALL HARDWORK, NICHES AND PASSIONS! LOL!

Another important point is that fear or moving out of our comfort zone and our familiar surroundings can prevent us from undertaking new projects and embarking on new journeys and our exposure to new things and ultimately preventing us from growing.

For some the fear of changing from a tried and tested meal may even be an issue, the fear of trying that new dish on the menu because it may not be as tasty as my usual - Mine is Chicken Balti, I love it and its very difficult to get me to change from that! As we get older - well that's a different story altogether!

NOT FAR OFF A BALTI

WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT VARIETY - Spice of Life!

“Variety's the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” William Cowper

Fear is a bit of a double-edged sword where it can protect us and it can alos project us off into new horizons or it could stop us from simply experiencing life! Just a thought when we are focusing our energies and attracting new customers for our own business and indeed for many of us involved in Boot Camp!

SPEAKING TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE

We want our customers to know that they have come to the right place - This is going to be there one stop shop for learning and expanding within Wealthy Affiliate and indeed their own Business Experience!

Humans are social creatures, WE ARE SOCIAL CREATURES! We want to reinforce that the platform is perfect for them in multiple ways because this is a place where we you can begin your social networks, have fun and build your successful business!

We want people to come here and express themselves and we want them to know that they are safe in doing so and not to be ridiculed in any way. Instill confidence in new members and support their business creativity! This community is the best!

"WE ARE HERE TO HELP BUILD BUSINESS AND CHARACATERS - WE SUPPORT YOU WHATEVER YOUR CURRENT DESIRES MAY BE."

We are encouraging people to make potential investment opportunities and part with their hard-earned money and spend it wisely! They expect to be introduced to professionals that have specific knowledge of business niches and a unique set of skills in affiliate marleting to enable them to assess the pros and cons.

FOCUS ON THE GOAL

Enough has been said on setting goals in other posts but 'my take' on goals and accomplishing what we want is to focus on what you want to manifest, essentially your end goal:

Why do I want my own online business? To expand my skills, skyrocket my future progress and be a successful Marketeer!!

TINY STEPS

A FEW TINY STEPS THAT GRADUALLY TAKE US FORWARD UNTIL WE PICK UP THE PACE

Potential new members may be scared off by the thought of having to learn again, so we feed it to them as Kyle has developed the training in easy step by step piecemeal stages - bite size actions.

Hi Wayne,

Is everything ok, was rather concerned when I read the beginning part to your blog.

I enjoyed your blog and totally agree with your thinking here and having been that Newbie who was totally overwhelmed with it all I can appreciate just how newbies feel coming in to Wealthy Affiliate just now.

Let me know that you are ok as I feel I haven't spoken to you in days. Are you still in Malaysia, and how is the office going?

Are you still looking for better contenders to play pool and darts as I am still available if need be lol.

Speak to you soon friend. xxx

Thanks Chez

It's nothing to do with my mom at all.

I am using the "this to shall pass" phrase to get me though the days at the moment.

I am still happy here Chez, in the office, it really is fantastic - I think just what I need and I am not sure why? It has given me some purpose.

I left work 5 years and I've been a real free spirit, I had 3 months of intense acupuncture in Vietnam after the stroke, I worked on my house renovation for 9 months, trained to be a TEFL English teacher, tried to learn the guitar, walked 5000 + km per year, did all the travelling, riding motorbikes...etc

Every once in a while you have to deal with people that lie and are very insincere.

WA is giving me the opportunity to say things I want to say, we should all use this platform for doing the nice things that we want!

We all love your posts Chez because you to write great things for us to read!

OK, some SWAGGING to do!

Oh, there's no one that can beat me at the pool, sure of that! I have a few years of experience from our local "The Brook", that taught many hours of pool playing! Some good memories and laughs!

Catch up later!!

Wayne

Hello friend,

Thanks for letting me know your mum is ok.

I know exactly what you mean Wayne, not everyone is trustworthy and sometimes it can people who we think we know well that show their other side. If you do not need to have contact with these people then just forget all about them and don't lose sleep over them as they are not worth it.

You are quite right to do what you have all done. That is the one thing sometimes that I regret not doing before I settled down and had my family and I always tell my 3 to live their lives before they decide to settle down and get married.

I do hope though that you have enjoyed everything you have done apart from having to get the acupuncture and having the stroke. That must have really been scary for you when it happened.

It can be a good thing when you finally manage to get that sense of purpose and you feel that live is a bit more worthwhile. I am pleased to hear that you are still enjoying the office and that nobody is good enough yet to beat you at Pool.

I am so pleased to see that you are finally finding your voice and your writing style and you are now managing to get it down on paper.

If there is one thing I do love WA for it is the very same as yourself and you have seen the blogs I have put up. Do you really think my blogs are good lol, some of them can be a lot of codswallop lol.

You have a good weekend Wayne and will speak to you later.

xxxx

Thanks for posting, I can certainly identify with what you have stated here and hopefully as a newbie, take actionable little steps.

Thanks so much for your comments!

Have a great day!

Wayne

Thanks for sharing!
Peace & blessings,
Marcus

Appreciated Marcus!

Thank you for your time again!

Wayne

Great post, hope you get some sleep! ;)

Thank you, I think I shall sleep well and have clear focus tomorrow. A little exhausted.

Wayne

WOW thanks for all you said. That really hit home on many points.

Tried and true

Elaine

Thank you Elaine!

Wayne

Thanks for the encouragement, Wayne. I particularly like the part about the tiny steps. That is exactly what I am doing! However long it takes.

Thanks for a kind, and encouraging post.

All the best
Mojalefa.

Good strategy small steps!

Thanks for reading!

Wayne

Great, Wayne. Long but great. :)

I can only add what I wrote on Rick's post. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and the spirit of this community to share and help is awesome.

I try to help and give back as much as I can as many do. That's what keeps me going as this is much more than I had ever imagined and I'm a tech person.
Keep up the good work y'all.
Steve

PS love the sleeping cats :)

Thanks Steven

Great comments as always!

Let sleeping cats lay or is it dogs!

Have a great day!!

Excellent post, Wayne, there is so much about the online environment that can put folks off, getting over the threshold can be a change that is hard to make, true like you say.
I guess that the content and words that we produce have to in effect bridge the gap for potential members between their desires and expectations and the reality of Affiliate and online marketing.
Focusing on the end game can be a game changer, it certainly helps us to formulate strategies that will help us to get to where we want to be even if they are baby steps every step is a step in the right direction.
Thanks for sharing your insights, I really enjoyed reading and a hope that you get on top of the issues that confront you, Wayne.

Brilliant thanks for your thorough review! Looking at all these responses everyone has written more than me!

I am pleased you enjoyed the read Alex and as far as getting on top of the issues, I have had worse to confront but I am doing my best.

Thanks again, very much appreciated!

Wayne

It's good to get this out. To let yourself be vulnerable to others in divulging your inner-most thoughts and feelings. I have to chuckle, a little, in hearing this. Not because it's funny or ridiculous, but because it's, too, true. This laugh is a form of hysteria. It's hysterical when we all experience the same thing, but have different emotions or form different opinions about it.

I chuckle, Wayne, because I spent fifteen years in my brick and mortar business (screen printing shop) working for twenty four hours straight. A few times I printed for thirty six hour without food or rest. (I would have gone longer, but I passed out.)

I laugh because I was glad I had enough work to do and more than enough to pay my bills. I generated a quarter of a million a year this way. And I, honestly, never noticed how I "felt". I guess I was, too, tired to feel anything.

Kudos to you, Wayne. Work your as_ off. You'll be better off for it. Or as my German aunt would say (a self-made multi-millionaire), "It's good for you."

You printers put in the hours, my brother was a lithographic printer he changed profession years ago - long hours.

I hope you take time to notice how you feel these days, I've worked in jobs over the years when I have just felt numb because I have worked long and hard. Are we better people for it?

I don't work my ass of, these day's I just do what I enjoy and see how that works for me.

Nice reply, thanks Clare!

Wayne

Amazing Wayne! You are such an inspiration, you've been up all night, have enough to handle and then you still find time to inspire us with some wise words and entertain us with lovely kitty pictures! The one sleeping with its paws in the air looks so blissful - adorable little thing! ;-)

It is amazing how crippling fear can be and how it sneaks up on one in many different and unexpected ways. I was in the midst of it this last week or two.

I probably need to go look at that video from Kyle again too - thanks for the reminder.

Tiny steps... is what I need to take now and remember that "this too shall pass". Thank you very much Wayne!

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

"this to shall pass" you've made me start appreciating the words that I wrote about, thanks Sharlee!

It will pass indeed, these things just need to managed in the meantime.

Thank you!

Wayne
