Wipe Those WordPress Worries Away: Free Training Courses
This blog post is dedicated to my new WA BFF Larry Hoover, aka freedomfourus :)
Larry is a fantastic individual, he is kind, quick to want to help, and extremely enthusiastic about being a member of WA.
He must also be very smart because he wants to be friends with me! “ba-du-bing...” OK calm down people, I’m here all week!
Seriously, please check him out. He has a really long description for his profile but he has an interesting story, as so many of us do, it’s definitely worth the read. Your success will increase just for knowing this guy.
So anyway... Larry asked me the other day, “Where can I get Free in-depth WordPress training?” Good question right. There are lots of places out there where you can learn how to do different things with WordPress like: install themes, add plugins, configure settings, and so much more. Then each theme, plugin, and so on has it’s own set of lessons on how to work with that particular element.
While these are all great in themselves, especially if you are just looking to do one specific thing, what if you want the whole package? Something get’s lost when you follow one lesson from one place and another lesson from somewhere else. People have different training styles and different recommendations so while one place may tell you to do something one way another will tell you to do it a different way. This can get confusing if you are new to WordPress or any framework for that matter.
The best thing you can do if you want in-depth training on all of what WordPress can do is to find a full & complete course that walks you thru everything you can do with WordPress, from start to finish. This way you get all your training in one place.
At first I was just planning on sending Larry a private message with a list of resources but then I thought “Hey, why don’t I put it in a blog post so anyone can use it.” So that’s what this is, there’s no training here or lessons, just a few Courses that I’ve personally used to improve on my web developing skills.
NOTE: I am not an affiliate of any of these sites and will not be making money if you check them out. Some of them will have upgrade options or other courses they charge for, but the ones I'm sending you too are Free (or were free when I used them).
NOTE #2: I apologize to any WA member who has written blogs or training courses on this specific subject as I’m sure there are lots of different WordPress training you can get right here on the WA site. In my short time here I haven’t been able to go thru everyone's lessons and I can’t recommend anything I haven’t personally used. If you have or know of a really good in-depth lesson right here on the WA site please add a link in the comments.
Without further ado, here are the Free WordPress Training Courses.

Hey Buck! Thanks to you and PressCoders Tutorials I feel much, much more confident in working with Word Press. It's because I finished their 26 lessons in a very short time. That was because it was fun and easy, I like the Englishman's style of teaching.
This ol' teacher gives the course a A- or B+. Thanks for all your help.

Hello, Buck. Thank you for the marvelous information. It will come in quite handy over the next few months.
Michael
Heyyyy Buck, have I thanked you lately for following me, which allowed me to follow you, I am totally new to building website's and I can see that you are a veritable fount of knowledge on this game. Thanks for sharing your tips and knowledge, great article.
Thank you for the compliment and the follow... PM me if you run into a problem and need assistance.
Hi Buck, The first 12 lectures have been gone through and the impression is of a very clear, concise, and understandable piece of work. Thank you very much for this. - Al Hurley
Good, I'm so glad! I know I found it very helpful in developing my skills so I'm really glad I was able to share it with you all.
Buck!
I went to the training and completed the first 4 (of 33)sessions.. A little easy for me because I have played around with the WP basics for a while but still a good review.
The trainer knows what he is teaching, gives examples,is specific, clear and doesn't rush. English accent is nice. So far so good. The price is nice (My favorite 4 letter F word = FREE) and this ol' tough grading teacher awards the gent a B+ or A-..
PS Buck -Thanks for sharing this with us. Even more than I requested of you. Larry freedomforus Will start # 5 tomorrow.
Thanks Larry, I'm really glad you like it. That site in general is really great, has tons of different courses you can take. A lot of them are pretty expensive but they still have some really great FREE ones, just have to look for them.
Buck!
Your even better than sliced and buttered bread! Free (my favorite 4 letter F word) associated with Word Press Training is awesome. I predict (with your training, experience and Pay It Forward attitude) that your going to be a WAU Ambassador in record setting time. I'm serious as I can be. Thanks Larry freedomforus
PS Thanks also for your above 1st sentence plug

Excellent post, Buck, and great resources. We have some good WP 101 training at WA, but some are not as up to date as the ones you have provided. Hard to keep up!
I will add one more, which is for beginners and covers the basics, and it is up to date as at WP 3.8, which is why I mention it. Sign up for the free link to the video tutorials.
They have 17 WP videos with more to add in the future.
The site is also a helpful resource of WordPress info. I receive their weekly newsletters. Other than sending their weekly tips on WP, they don't bother you with unnecessary emails.
