So, my site is getting there, but I haven't started adding posts yet. I feel good about the pages I have there and I know they'll get better over time as I tweak them. But today I wanted to get in there and start writing content. I have a thousand ideas and I could start writing - I decided not to. Why? I realized that I have a tendency to get too excited and jump in too quickly. This is what leads to me burning out. Instead, I am playing the long game. So this is my new strategy:

1) Plan ahead. Today I started an editorial calendar. It's a simple spreadsheet that has every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next twelve weeks. I have a column where I am adding titles I am designing using the keyword tool. The beauty of this is that I am recognizing similar posts that I can chunk together as a series.

2) Write my posts well ahead of time. I've decided the "launch" of my posts will begin next Monday. I want to write as many articles as I can. This will give me time to go back over them before they are actually put out there.

3) Publish them consistently. Instead of my all-or-none strategy, I will actually use this system to keep my posting consistent. If I get far enough ahead, I can focus more of my energy on generating traffic and marketing without worrying about content creation - and I won't miss a beat.

This is just something I wanted to share. It's something I've heard about and now that I'm actually doing it, I can see how beneficial it's going to be. Plus I know it will keep me excited and focused on the next task, as opposed to my "flying by the seat of my pants" approach. Hopefully some of you can benefit from this as well.
