My Start On A New Journey

So here I sit at the threshold of a new journey I’m about to undertake with a new business venture in The Home Business Reborn and the Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve avoided doing this for almost a year now, wondering if I really have enough value to share with other affiliate marketers.

What changed for me today over any other day in the last year? The simple truth is that recently, I've come to grips with the fact that I am an alcoholic. I've know it for years, but actually coming to grips with it is another issue altogether. So there it is folks, I've said it, it's not out there publicly in the world!!!

So what does that have to do, with why I'm on this journey. Frankly, it’s not any one specific thing. but more the culmination of a bunch of different factors coming together to a point, where I realized I have to do something.

I'm not too sure how many of you know the process we go through with the 12 step program etc., but part of it is coming to grips with your "Higher Power" and part of it revolves around "making amends".

On the "Higher Power" front, for now it's pretty simple. If I'm working here helping the folks in my new home business venture, I'm not down at the local establishment. I'm home where my kids can see me and know I'm available to them, if they need me. Which is a great deal more for what I can say in the past. Also the fact that I can pass along whatever information I come across to other internet marketers on their personal journeys is cathartic and hopefully will help me spiritually. So that's the warm and mushy part,

On the "Making Amends" front, by that's a different score. I have a wife who I love and four (4) absolutely tremendous children in a range from thirteen (13) to four (4) years of age. I have a lot of making up to do along the way. Not only from a pure "just being there" perspective, but also financially. So that's where the business aspect of this comes in.

Like all kids, they’re each unique in their own individual ways. A few months ago, it was back to school for all of them on the Tuesday, but the 4-year old. So we took them out on the Friday to start the back-to-school shopping.

I haven't been there for that aspect of their lives for several years now. So the whole process came at me, as quite a shock.

Now if you have kids, especially kids who are tweens or in their early teens, you know at some point, they become incredibly conscious of their image. I’m not too sure when exactly the change happens, but those shoes you used to be able to buy from Wal-Mart are no longer good enough anymore. I guess it depends on where you live, but as I discovered that Friday, the new shoes have to be the latest Vans, or DCs from stores like West 49. The tops or jeans can’t be generic. We’re now looking at clothing from Aeropostale or Forever 21, Hollister and others. Somewhere along the way this summer, when I just wasn’t looking, my two (2) oldest kids have become brand washed and there just isn’t any discussion on the topic.

The third child (she’s 8), bless her soul, is still fine with the shoes from Wal-Mart with the proviso that they sparkle or they’re colorful. As long as the top has Scooby-Doo or Hannah Montana, she’s thoroughly satisfied.

So the usual back-to-school shopping trip which I always knew intuitively was expensive and painful, this year had become an exercise in agony for us financially. When you combine this shopping experience, with the need to begin to budget for all of their various activities, not to mention the day-to-day financial expenses and I realized I need to do something and I need to do something now.

I do have a full-time job I actually really enjoy and my wife works part-time. Although, I think the jury is still out on whether she likes her part-time job. I also have a couple of other emerging online businesses in ther market sectors which are starting to help.

So today, I took the plunge and decided to take the plunge and get off my butt and really kick-off the Home Business Reborn and my active journey with the Wealthy Affiliate. . I’ll be honest in that I’ve seen a lot of programs and heard a ton of promises made by many of the “gurus”. I come from the school of “if it’s too good to be true, it is”. So the jury is still out for me on how successful this is going to be. However, if for no other reason that those I've stated here, I’m vested now and I’m going to do this. So here I am and this is my first blog as part of my spiritual and business journey in the "work at home" market.

At this stage, I’m thinking I’ll use this space to chronicle my journey as an intrepid Internet Marketer. I’ll commit to chronicling what is working for me and what is not working for me. I’m also going to make sure this forum becomes incredibly personal for me and hopefully will provide everyone with some honest insight into what has become a sometimes questionable industry.

As you come to read my blog, I’d love to hear from you, members of the Wealth Affiliate Community as well. I’m a big boy and not particularly “thin skinned”. So all comments, both positive and negative are welcome. In fact I will respond to every one of the comments you thoughtfully leave for me.

So for today, I think I’ll leave it here. I’m nervous and oddly full of all kinds of trepidation now that I've "outed myself" for all the world to see. I’m also excited though and full of hope that this might help me and others. At least that';s the goal. Either way, I am determined that at the end of all, that I will meet the commitments and the challenge associated with giving this business my absolute and totally honesty commitment.
