GravatarSiteComments best practice, What do you think & How do I?

In thinking through the reasons and whole process of Commenting nowadays...
As it is recommended to delete the commentators website url when approving & replying to their comment I’m thinking I should be using a Gravatar linked to my domain email.
That way should the site I’m leaving a comment on wanted to track my website they could, which as a site owner I like to do if I have time or if I want to connect more with them.
I’ve noticed that some of you already do that. So I've revisited Kyles latest Gravatar training, but I’m still left with some questions as to how to make it all work not knowing if there might be some adverse effects by changing some things to my current set up.
Current set up:
- I have a gravatar account with a gmail account
- My domain emails go to this gmail account too
- My WP user is also using that gmail account, hence how it connects with the Gravatar

So the aim is to switch to using a WP User (with the same name) & Gravatar with the domain email.
So what are my options and how to put them in place?
Gravatar account
- Add my domain email to my original Gravatar account OR create a new Gravatar account?
- what picture does it use, as I can’t see an option to add picture to added email? (can’t find answer in help files either)
- would it be best to make it the primary email?
WP admin > User settings
- Change my current WP user's email to my domain email OR create a new user?
- If I change users email to domain email, what happens to anything done by that user (posts/comment replies, etc.. within WP admin & SiteComments) prior to change?
- If creating new user can I use same name?
Many thanks for your thoughts and guidance
Brigitte :)
