Crossroads
So I feel like I am at a crossroads. I like blogging and writing, but clearly not my niche as it has become so difficult to get inspired. There are tons of things to write about in my niche but finding the low hanging fruit seems impossible.
My site has also lost all traffic since Oct the 19th (One of the spam updates). I am fairly certain my site is not spam as my spam score is 1 percent and there have been no penalties or manual actions taken. But clearly Google does not like something.
It has put me in a spiral of depression.
I thought about starting another site. Something I am interested in but was strongly discouraged from doing so concerning the subject matter (Legal Marijuana and Vapes).
No, I was scared shitless actually. (Excuse the cuss word. I don’t cuss often, but when I do it is to emphasize the emotion behind it.)
Advice given came from a good place and out of concern for my safety, but I have been angry about it ever since. Partially because I thought I finally found something I could endlessly talk about and partially because I had already written several articles. I also had a fun domain name picked out.
However, all the potential drawbacks are real and potentially scary and I still don’t understand all the legalities involved.
I have been trying to figure out a work around but as of yet no inspiration has come.
Concentrating on the vape aspect is one idea but OMG you would not believe the number of sites doing just this. So yet again it would be another competitive niche and I don’t seem to have the knack for getting Google or Bing’s attention. Plus I cannot come up with a domain name that I like.
Yes I know every niche is technically competitive but I am not sure what I could offer that others could not.
The answering questions method idea seems to have exploded on the internet with what seems like everyone is doing it now.
Maybe I am just noticing more.
Either way, what do I bring to the table especially if I can’t talk about the reason I am trying different vapes in the first place?
If I was not clear earlier. I am a medical marijuana patient. So I am legal, at least in my state. Again legalities become unclear across states and countries.
Also to be clear this is not a “I’m quitting post”. I am just really lost and confused. This is my dream but between my two sites not doing well since the updates and not knowing where to go from here, I really don’t know where to start or what to do.
If you want to help me brainstorm this is what has been going through my head…
I am interested in makeup/cosmetics, perfume, purses, gifting, cooking, dogs, my kid, scrapbooking, and crafting.
Cooking, dogs, and parenting are not things I am interested in starting a website about.
Scrapbooking/crafting you really need to be able to do these things in real life and I don’t have the money or the space to do either. (I have not been able to do either since we moved in to our tiny house 5 years ago.)
Makeup and cosmetics are really competitive and I am not sure how to do a site like that without doing real life tutorials. I am not interested in putting myself in photos or videos.
Perfume and purses seem to be what is left but I have no idea what to do with either idea.
What I need is something that I can write about forever and a niche that is easy to get in to because it is really narrowed down.

I am sure you have a wealth of knowledge and experience with CBDs that would be very helpful to either, seniors, people in pain, afraid of pain medications, hospice patients, pet owners, dementia sufferers, people on the fence, people who have tried every western medicine and are looking for a safe and legal option. CBD is still relatively new and readily available and accepted. I know it is very competitive but keep at it.
Anytime a person has a sincere love and passion for something it will work out eventually. Could you broaden it from vaping? CBD is in just about anything a person or animal can put in their mouth, it seems like everything from dog chews to pain salves.
I can feel your passion and love for the niche and like Zoopie suggested go for it.
Fear sucks period! So does depression. I don't know what the situation is with Google but there must be some other disclaimers. I'm sorry I am still new at this.
I am in the natural healthcare niche and after the early stage, I wasn't too sure I chose the right one. It seemed like every page was a medical professional leading the way.
However, it is a passion of mine, and no matter what I was going to keep at it without any concerns about ranking and such. Partha is a mentor and he has helped me so much in my keyword research since I added free Google Chrome extensions, Keywords Everywhere and SEO Minion it has really helped my keyword and longtail searching. Especially with the Domain Authority rating provided on each post. Partha also has well provided much humor.

If it was me, I would go the vape route. Check the legalities, but a lot of others are doing it. Sprinklings of disclaimers and maybe some legal advice ( if your really worried).
Still, easy for me to say as Vietnam is very free and easy.
Good luck whatever you decide. But I always run with the heart as long as I have the head covered. lol.

I just don't have the answers to these questions.

If you do not want to put yourself in photos or videos, you could create a puppet character or mascot, and let them be in the graphic areas. (this “celebrity character” could become your brand) (Dracula the VAPEpire)
Might become YouTube or TikTok FAMOUS. Could be fun too!
