Wealthy Affiliate,

My profile needs an update.

I joined WA well over a year ago. My expectations were high, and the desire to succeed strong. Or, so I thought.

Then, early last Fall, I sensed a shift in attitude. In retrospect, the term, "looking for an easier, softer way" now comes to mind. Was it the cause for that unhappy shift?

Whatever the cause, I soon bagged Wealthy Affiliate, There had to be, I hoped, an easier, quicker route to the reality of financial success.

That hope, quickly moved me to pursue alternative internet marketing plans.

A bad move!

One 'opportunity', as it turned out, proved to be a tedious, time consuming, costly, 21 step, pyramid scheme. A road to nowhere! And, the other? Well, it was, and still is, A full blown internet scam served up by THE WORLDS BEST MARKETING GROUP, out of Phoenix, AZ.

The guy in Phoenix promised me a sure way to make some serious money on line. It was spun as quick and easy. Further sweetened with a promise of no "heavy lifting." Man, what a great deal. I bought his whole speil.

How it worked. They build a website that enables me to sell products on Amazon. For that I pay WBMG $10,000.00. All that is now a done deal. However, it was just a matter of days after the deal was done, that a savy computer type informed me that it was/is I/me who got 'done' in the deal.

Say ......what? Yeah, it was ugly! My friend described the 10K site as a "poorly done, ugly eye sore hawking cheap, worthless products". Why would anyone possibly use it? Then the killer! it turned out my site had no connection to Amazon, or any other site. My angry phone calls went nowhere, etc., etc., etc.

The present. About a month ago, my instincts told me to reconnect with Wealth Affiliate.

However, rather than jumping right back in, I figured it best to feel my way. First, I spent time reading and researching the field of affiliate marketing. Then I went thru the 10 WA lessons to help me get back on track. Now, I've begun doing each of the lessons. Hopefully, that means completing the firs two lessons by this Friday, April 27th.

OK, just one more aside. IT is about my WA focus. It has changed. Money, of course is still big. However, other things are no less important, like success as an end in itself. And, that success would include being part of the WA family, once again!

Life before Wealthy Affiliate.

During that extended period, I did many things in the world of paychecks, both both blue collar and white collar. After college, not knowing what to do with my degree, and physically ineligible for the military, I was stumped. There also was a lack of confidence. So, I spent the next eight yeas as an itinerant bartender ,construction worker, and taxi cab driver.

Some regrets! Some good times! I really liked slinging drinks and chatting up the bar patrons. "Working for the man" digging ditches and pouring concrete probably does not sound like too much fun to most, but it was OK by me. Driving a cab, minus the drunks, could be a whole lot of fun. Sometimes, even with the drunks could be fun. Today, after many years, I still have fond memories of wheeling my cab up and down and down the side streets of diverse places like Philly, Reno and Boston.

I entered the White Collar world as Social Studies teacher at a Junior High in the wilds of North Philly. From there, I moved onto a couple of boys boarding schools. One in Lee, MA, followed by The Storm King School in Cornwall, NY. Two very different worlds! Lee Academy was place for rich punks, some an ace away from disaster. Storm King, located on a beautiful campus overlooking the Hudson River, also catered to the wealthy, but of a different sort.

In the late 60' our student body included the sons of foreign diplomats, Hollywood celebrities, wealthy Viet Namese refugees and Arabian oil Sheiks! No less than Lee Academy, Storm King was a fun, fascinating, alive, great place to work!

After Storm King, and two years of graduate school, I changed direction, again.

This time, my destination was Springfield VA, and a job at The National Right to Work Committee (RTW}. Because of my union experience as a teacher, construction worker and bartender, they brought me on as a Staff Writer and Researcher. They were not big on forced unionism. Neither was I.

The time at Right to Work was both gratifying and well spent. It illustrated for me, in no small way, that I am cause oriented. Helping and promoting groups, organizations, ideas and causes, are what drives me.

After leaving RTW, I continued to work as a Writer/Researcher. Those jobs included the United States Senate Republican Conference, The US Department of Education and The Georgia Department of Education.

In 2002 I took early retirement. Since then I've stayed busy helping and promoting groups, organizations, ideas and causes that I, and others, believe in. Sometimes, I get paid!

Now, sixtteen years into retirement, I have decided to get more serious. Yet, not sure what that means. Hopefully, Wealth Affiliate is the answer, or, a least part of it. Currently thinking about combining the sale of products with events, causes, ideas, etc.

Brendan for website review go to the site rubix menu on the left. Open it and click on site feed back all the way at the bottom. Once there click on Request Feedback and they will tell you what to do. Which is give feedback or review someone elses site to earn 1 credit. You need 2 credits to request a review for your own site.

Good afternoon Brendan,

Yes, this thing about where we can put our websites on our profile. When I put that question in the classroom I was told one should do that so I did. Later on, I found out one has this space when you scroll down under your photo to the bottom. Anyhow, as I think that not everybody will scroll down so far I left it on my profile text in a more visible place.
Well, as you read my message to the other member I do not have to repeat about the world library and free documentary.
Thank you for the follow and good luck.

Regards, Taetske

Good afternoon to you Brendan, my name is Ken and I welcome you to WA and thank you for the follow. I'm following you back. I hope the near catastrophe of getting booted off hasn't chilled your desire to earn online income. We all have gremlins attacking us from time to time but we always recover, sometimes dramatically.
I am approaching retirement age faster than what I am ready for, hence the membership to WA. I want to secure an online stream of income before I retire. Scale up from this to having multiple streams of income. If a few sites are producing a little income then the more the merrier.
I look forward to working with you and wish you much success and prosperity in your climb back to the top.

Ken, I appreciate your thoughts. A lot of great people here. I've gotten big help to reach Level 2, Lesson 2. But now stuck there for the last 3 days. I won't be packing it in though!

Just sent a missive to da MAN, his-self for some help. Just not tech/computer savy. It can certainly unleash a litany of the most !@#$%^& obscene, !@#$%^& obscenities!.

Thank's I feel a little better now. Anyway, all the best, man! Seems you have things going in the right direction. Let's try to maintain some contact. Cheers!! B

Hello Brendan,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for adding me to your network.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I made an addition for After The Walkthrough. Also a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link right under “Follow me on” (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please reply to this message or leave a comment on my profile.
Success building your business in 2017. See you around, Greetings Loes

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

rufat,

I'll start with my niche. Always had in keen interest in, and passion for certain causes, particularly if the are rooted in conspiracy. Thus my niche is The 911 Twin Towers attack, and the alleged government cover up.

It is reported that roughly half the US population does not believe
the official version as laid out in "The 911 Commission Report. Quite an audience.

Both Google and Amazon attest to that fact. Not only the continued interest in the subject, but also the reality that some people have turned 911 into a business.

Google is crawling with web sites devoted solely to 911. Some are devoted to public education and the demand that Washington re-open the investigation. The American Association of Archetects (sp) and Engineers is particularly effective. Trump even jumped on the bandwagon during his campaign.

Other sites are are about making money catering to "The Truther (sp) Movement". Those people who don't believe Washington and want action.

I found at least three international companies that provide a wide array of 911 products, ranging from coffee cups and T-shirts to baby diapers. There are 18 or 19 product categories.

I seems a opportunity for affiliate marketing. One of the companies makes a serious pitch to attract such people.

Another opportunity might be develop a line of 911 products for my own site. Also thought about writing letters for the informational sites that educate but offer no products. I notice they all ask for donations.

Another great place for affiliate marketing is Amazon, where they lots of 911 books and information.

Better stop here. Goin on too long!

Cheers!
Brendan

Any of this can be monetized. It depends on your patience and effort. If there is an affiliate programs it means it can be monerized. Selling Amazon stuff is a good idea because most people know about Amazon and trust it.

I understand you Brendan. We all sometimes can be nervous because of too much things in our schedule. This is normal. Just be patient while you learn and apply. Success doesn't come easy but when it comes you will be very happy and thankful to yourself for being patient now. When you feel discouraged take some rest and then come back to your site when you feel good. Share your thoughts here in the community and you get a lot of good ideas and encouragement. We all have been there.

I will start working this program tomorrow and do as much as I can. Did I join this prematurely? I'm presently working the FAST LANE trying to resolve two pressing problems. The WA review of AWAI body slammed me into joining you Sunday, the 5th. Figured I better jump on it.

Now, I'm overwhelmed by the massive collective response. Say ------What? How does one respond to the deluge of WA member emails. How do you organize? And, you start where? I be suckin wind!

My goal is not to make big money promoting and selling commercial products for a given company. Rather, it is my desire to draw attention to, develop popular support, and raise money for causes and ideas in which I believe.

I would rather make 30 K a year doing this than earn six figures, peddling some guys widgets.

Would Wealthy Affiliate help me achieve this goal?

Cheers!
Brendan

P.S. Is there a WA contact number to call?

Yes, I believe it can help you achieve this. Follow the lessons step by step. You will build you site the same whether you are going to be selling or raising funds. The marketing is essentially the same as what is taught here. The main difference will be that you will affiliate yourself with the causes that you want to promote. I have just hooked up with a small lupus organization through one of my site. I don't know if I will do any fund raising, but I will offer information and promote the cause.
Reply
BrendanL1 Premium
Thank's. Really like your points about the lessons and site. Also, causes and the fund raising. It would be nice to make big money, but my main goal is to see a number of organizations, groups and causes really take off and get public attention. If serious money follows, no complaints. As is though, I can now pay the bills, and don't feel a lot of financial pressure.
