We Are Works In Progress.

Someone asked me the other day what my biggest fear was…
I thought about it, not for long, and I realized that my biggest fear was being a failure in life. I’m sure most of you understand what I mean. Correct me if I’m wrong but we all have those ‘life goals’, right? We all have that level of greatness we’d like to achieve, that lifestyle we’d like to live and that fancy kind of life we’d like to give to our children. We have been told like a gazillion times that we just have to work, work and work to get to those goals. That gets me to what I want to write to you guys about.

Everyone one is just talking about being on top!!

Making bills.

Heck, even songs these days are just telling us how we should work.
I personally think this is the worst mentality!
We are in a society where we are taught that you should always be working hard and that if you just dare rest, you wake up poor. This is a whole load of non sense if you ask me.

All that talk causes so much negative results. So many people are/ have battled depression, anxiety and all sorts of mental disorders just because they have become slaves of this overrated idea of making bucks. What they fail to understand is that everyone here is just but a work in progress.

I am currently reading this book by Alexis Jones called I Am That Girl and she says that none of us have all this stuff figured out. We are forever works in progress and the sooner we accept that, the happier our lives will be.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that we shouldn’t work hard. Nooo! I’m just saying that sometimes you should cut yourself some slack and take it easy.

Remember superheros’ don’t exist. When you do all this “working” and ever “hustling hard” every single day something will eventually give in and it could be your health. Some people are just so engrossed in their work, that they barely have a social life! What’s the point of grinding that hard only to end up with social anxiety, and depression due to loneliness because you didn’t take time to meet other people and know them??

PS: This is no excuse for laziness!! Haha...

-But, once in a while take a break, and really enjoy it.

Xo.

Your perspective is right on. We have somehow developed the expectation of perfection. We will always be a work in progress and failure is just a part of that progress!

Janice:)
That is true...There's this expectation of 'perfection' which is kinda overrated.

It's all a matter of balance Brenda - a measured amount of work, rest and play - they will make us all feel much better.

Jude, I agree...we do need both:)
We shouldn't be lazy...but also, we should have sometime to ourselves...to unwind or something:)
