I really try to focus on the "ups." There will always be "downs," but I do my best to ingore them and keep moving forward.
Hi Bren
Welcome to the community!
That's an interesting question. A bit tough to answer but I will try to give you a general idea of some of the downs you might come across and probably how to deal with them.
(I believe some issues will likely depend on your niche...)
1. Getting rejected by some strict Affiliate networks - not to worry, there many out there. You can always knock on the next door.
2. No traffic! - Don't fret, it happens a lot for new sites. If you keep adding content your site will begin getting the trust from search engines and therefore traffic.
3. It takes time to make money - don't give up. Keep working hard daily (even when you feel like you don't want to. Try and write about things you enjoy so that it doesn't feel like a punishment.
that's my 2 cents...
Hope it helps.
Jane
Thank you.
Regarding traffic. Is there a point that reality sets in and you realize no one is interested, so you just stop.
Delete website and move on to a new niche, website.
I don't want to put time and energy in something for x number of months if no one is interested in it
Thanks
Bren
The thing is, you chose a niche as your interest right? Here is the thing. If you are interested in it, there are likely much more people just like you that you never see yet share that exact same interest. You are on the internet. You are appealing to literally 75% of the Earths population density. Trust me, you are going to find a sizeable audience to share with regardless of the niche.
I have never had that experience. But I think it’s highly unlikely if you choose the niche that serves humans 😉

Hi Bren, there are lots of highs, so don't sweat the lows. These are different for everyone. You may be brilliant at creating your website but feel less than awesome at writing posts . This could be a low for you but that all depends on how you handle the challenge.
Learning anything new takes time, effort and sometimes fixable mistakes. If you see this as specific chance to learn than the road will be pretty smooth.
Clear skies and smooth sailing.

Hi
I just started level 2, and I have to purchase a domain name. I statred the webite on the free website builder so I thought there would not be any additional costs.

Hi Bren,
If you go into the domain site on your menu it is easy to look at names for .com websites and buy. At around $15 a year they are very cheap compared to buying outside and you receive all the hosting advantages from WA included in the cost of your Premium membership.
I'm a newbie and I didn't realise what a great offer this was until I went looking to buy a domain name in Australia. It's expensive. About $18 a month and the security and technology is questionable.
We have terrific security and updated technology in WA and you can transfer your free website over to it with one click. Then you own your own digital real estate.
An excellent idea.
Hope this helps.

Hi Bren, it can be confusing when we first start our online journey.
Looking at it think in terms of renting a house as opposed to building your own house.
One offers more value and opportunity moving forward.
When we create a site on the Site Rubix platform, we are building on some one else's platform.
We are using a sub domain, better to build on your own domain.
The short answer to your question is no, and membership gives the opportunity to build up to 25 sites using free sub domains.
Yes. You can purchase one through Site Domains in your Wealthy Affiliate Dashboard. Click on Website and then Site Domains. There is a window you can enter the domain name of your choice to see if it is available. Most domain names cost about $14 for one year.Hosting is included in your Premium benefits.
I hope this helps.

A free website will never perform as well as a hosted site on your own domain name, you also can not fully brand yourself and gain full trust if you are not on your own domain name. The cost is under $14 a year though so it's not expensive and you can do it at any time, WA site support will help you map to your new domain.

Nebie here ☺
I was just wonering if our blogs stay within our community or get posted outside our community? Do we have a choice?
You can choose who gets to see your blog post. And you can decide if other WA members can share your WA blog post outside of WA (most post have an icon that says 'affiliate' that can be used to share the post anywhere online).
When you write a post, you'll see a settings icon at the top right. That's where you can mark your choices. If you don't want your post to be visible to everyone, or to be shared outside WA, that's where you can 'fix' that.
This is a good idea because people who see it advertised on the net could click through to read the whole blog and if they signup you get the credit and of course the commissions when they go premium.
