This Is Why I Sometimes Hate Facebook

I realize Facebook is a great platform to advertise and share our content. Kyle has been talking about setting up a Facebook page and running low cost ad campaigns as part of the Boot Camp Training.

However, experiences with both Meta platforms, Facebook and Instagram, have left me a little shell shocked. Their platform rules tend to be a little more strict than X (Twitter) but sometimes all I can say is WTF!?

CHECK OUT THIS INSANITY

Anyone who knows me will tell you I am not into the exploitation of women and especially children in any kind of sexual situations. It goes against my faith and love for the Lord, plus it's just not decent behavior.

This evening I got home and found the following Notification from Facebook.

Obviously this was done by an AI algorithm, but this picture being flagged is from 15 YEARS AGO! Notice the date is April 17, 2010. To make matters worse, I have no idea which image they are complaining about!

There's no way to even contact them to appeal the action! I KNOW FOR A FACT I DIDN'T POST WHAT THEY SAID I DID! It's because of stupid algorithm crap like this that makes me sometimes HATE Facebook.

I would never even consider to post an image that portrays anything even close to what they are claiming. It was obviously never a problem before because I'm sure Facebook would have said something sooner.

Am I the only one who has these feelings against Facebook and or Instagram? Did you have any Facebook or Instagram stories like this ridiculous crap? If you did, leave them in the comments so others can be prepared.

Good morning Rob,

Thank you for your post, Rob, that is very frustrating, but classic Facebook behaviour, that's why I would prefer to avoid! I'm amazed really how platforms like Facebook get away with this appalling behaviour, it's just so wrong!

Like you, I'm not a fan of Facebook, not only because of their restrictions, but it's such a clunky type platform. I have just created a new Facebook page, but I must admit I'm a bit reluctant, having had very bad experiences of Facebook before.

For many years, I had two Facebook accounts, one was for real genuine friends, who I knew and the second account was for business networking, which is where I set up a few Facebook pages. One day I went to go to my Facebook business networking profile and found that it had been taken down. I can't remember what the wording was, but apparently it's happened to quite a few people.

The ridiculous part was that my Facebook pages were still active, however, I couldn't get to those pages to edit them! I believe they will live until around three months ago, and then I noticed that they had disappeared.

Despite searching numerous ways online to contact Facebook, I was never able to contact them. Having started this new Facebook page, I'm just wondering how seriously I can really take it. I'm told that Facebook pages are now having traction again, but the issue is they can disappear at any time, without any warning. Once again, it comes back to the importance of having our website as our main platform.

Wishing you a very happy Friday.

Roy

Wow! Thank you, Roy for this information. I see I’m not the only one. This latest episode with Facebook has me to the point of not even starting a Facebook page, as Kyle is recommending in the Boot Camp training.

I would hate to create a page and have it start gaining traction, then to see Facebook, shut it down for a stupid reason. It would be a waste of my time and effort that I don’t want to experience. From now on Facebook will only be for friends and family.

2

I know where you are coming from, Rob, as I feel exactly the same! I do believe that many people have had a very poor experience with Facebook!

However, like you, I am going through the Boot Camp training, so I have created a Facebook page, although reluctantly! I don't plan to spend hours of time on this platform, it's more somewhere to post my content to from my website. Let's see what happens.

My Webmaster, who has also become a good friend, has never been a fan of social media pages. However, recently, he said that we do need social media now to boost our website. Although, it's still good to make our website the priority, I believe.

When I see people spending hours on their Facebook page, and please don't get me wrong, I know that Facebook is working for many people. However, I do find it concerning that they could just lose everything in a second, if Facebook decides to shut them down!

An interesting subject, Rob.

All the best.

Thank you, Roy. I am in between whether I will do a Facebook page or not. I guess I will have to make a decisions shortly. I might try and just not spend a lot of time on it, and see how it goes.

2

I understand where you're coming from, Rob, as I felt exactly the same!

I have created a page, but I don't intend to spend too much time on there, let's see what happens.

Have a great weekend.

In my opinion...F****** stay away from these platforms.
Build your own here at home.
You do not need Billions.
Millions will only bring problems.
Comfort in life is nice.
Achieve it.
No worries, no hurries, in complete control of what tomorrow brings.
You are awesome.
Thank you.

Paul from Canada.

Thanks Paul. I don't intend to do any business on Facebook, even though Kyle recommends it. I don't need or want the headache that comes with it. Facebook will just be for keeping in contact with family and friends.

Cheers.

I have a long ignored account, very few images- and no activity equals no attention, no banning, and no good to me!

I had considered building a FaceBook page for the Author site I am building. I do think this indicates that the chances of getting banned are high! As I am not quite ready for the page yet, I will have time to do a bit of research.

Thanks for sharing your experience,
Sami

2

You are welcome Sami. I was thinking of starting a Facebook page as Kyle has suggested in the recent Bootcamp training, but I doubt I will do one now.

Plus some of the horror stories I've heard from other members over the years, I have no desire now to test those waters. It's strictly for family and friend sharing from now on.

1

The more I hear about Facebook nonsense, the prouder I am for being overtly cautious to creating a Facebook page even for free traffic. I think the best thing would be to use the little templates that facebook has for its users.

These templates are blanks for the most part. They come in a variety of colors to choose from when you are about to create a post. All you have to do is add text to them. lol 😂 Facebook Safe!

3

I haven’t created a Facebook page yet, though Kyle was explaining how in Boot Camp recently. But now? I doubt I will create a Facebook page now that this has happened and from the complaints I’ve heard from other members.

1

agreed, I have my personal page that I persistently deactivate when I become bored with the content that I am presented with. Plus I like to throw the algorithm off. I’ve had Facebook pages for my website. I just didn’t get anywhere with it and like yourself, I heard countless horror stories of peoples pages being hacked or deleted by Facebook for xyz.

Facebook is a headache 🤕

2

I'm starting to think Facebook is more like a migraine headache.

I'd never heard of anything like this before. I didn't post on Facebook until I set up my Facebook page for my parenting site. I have lots of child images on my Facebook parenting site and haven't had any problems.

I did have problems with ChatGPT a few months ago when it couldn't generate realistic people, especially children's images. It then quietly changed and went back to creating them for me. But for a while I had to make do with more cartoon style images. I have now replaced those on my website, but not on my Facebook page.

I’m at a loss for words and understanding. Why wait 15 YEARS, then flag the image and not even show me which images they removed? Plus they don’t provide any way for me to reply?

2

Totally crazy! I don't understand. In my experience, old Facebook posts tend to get buried underneath newer ones anyway. I can't see anyone ever finding a post from 15 years ago. But - even if it was a recent one - the least they could do is tell you what the image was. I suppose if you could find your way back to the posts from 15 years ago, it might give you an idea what it was.

2

I thought about that but it's too much of a hassle at this point. I'm just not going to set up a Facebook Page now, even though Kyle's been teaching it for us to do in Bootcamp. This has left a very bad impression on me.

2

I can understand that. As far as Bootcamp goes, I only do what feels right for me. I haven't done any Facebook ads and I am not going to do any PayPerClick.
