Learning and Laughter 8 - Truth

TRUTH – Oh boy! Where is this Robert's Sunday blog going this week? What could possibly be the cryptic meaning of the overall theme of this blog with the word TRUTH? Simple…Everything you read and see will be the truth. Yeah, I know, that was a lame answer but let us continue anyways.

COMMAND & CONTROL

Have you ever been in the middle of working on your computer, perhaps writing content or even surfing the internet, and your computer/laptop mouse decides to stop working? Have you ever felt powerless in what to do when something like that happens?

Well I am going to give you some simple keyboard shortcut truths that will help you out should your mouse stop working. Many people who use a computer, even those who consider themselves proficient, may not know some of these. Though the following list is not the entire list of keyboard shortcuts (wanted to keep it simple today), it is a list that can help you in an emergency.

Being that I mainly use a Windows computer the list will be representing the Control (Ctrl) Key. If you use an Apple computer, just substitute the Control Key with the Command Key.

WHEN WORKING WITHIN WORDPRESS OR A DOCUMENT PROGRAM

·CTRL-A: to select all text

·CTRL-B: to set bold text

·CTRL-I: to set italic text

·CTRL-U: to set underline text

·CTRL-C: to copy highlighted text

·CTRL-V: to paste highlighted text

·CTRL-X: to cut (delete) highlighted text

·CTRL-S: to save

·CTRL-O: to open a file

·CTRL-P: to print all the text

·CTRL-F: to find a word or words on a page

That last one is great for when you wish to search for how many times a keyword or any word appears within your content. As you can see in the below picture, within a web page I just finished creating, I did CTRL and F.

In the upper right corner of the WP editor a search bar appears. I typed the word "internet" and it will highlight every instance of that word on the entire WP editor page within the content, in the page title, meta tags,... You can then see how many times that word appears and cycle through all places where that word appears by clicking either the up/down arrows

WHEN SURFING THE INTERNET ON WEB PAGES

·CTRL-T: to open a new tab in your web browser

·CTRL-W: to close a window on your web browser

·CTRL-TAB: to scroll through the tabs on your web browser

·CTRL- "-" or "+": to reduce or increase font size on a webpage

·CTRL-H: to open the browsing history

FUNNY BUT TRUE

OK…Now that the Learning part is done with Keyboard Truths, it is time for some “Funny But True” images and a video. The first image is to bust on those people from the southern U.S. who do not know how to drive and survive with only an inch of snow.

Being that I am about 80% vegetarian, meaning I rarely eat meat anymore unless it is fish or something really lean like venison, I find this to be funny but true.

I know one or two stupid people where this could be useful.

When you think about this and you read it with the voice of Forest Gump in your mind, it is funny but true.

As many of you know a TV show legend Leonard (Mr. Spock) Nimoy just passed away a couple of days ago. Another one of my favorite TV show and movie legends died back in August. The below video is the stand-up comedy routine of Robin Williams that he did in England in front of a large theater audience and the Royal Family (Prince Charles, Prince Harry,...) in December of 2008.
