How To Use AI For Photo Editing - It Is Easy Here At WA

Do you have an old photograph that has lost some of its color, is faded or is kind of blurry? Did you know you can now get a cleaner, colorful and sharper image?

In this post I am going to show you how to use AI for photo editing with Image Studio and why it is easy for those of us here within Wealthy Affiliate for no added cost.

TURN YOUR BLACK & WHITE PHOTOS TO COLOR

Before you were able to take color photographs in the late 1930's to early 1940's, Black & White photography was the norm. In some aspects it still is the desired media.

However, if you have Black and White photographs that you would like to see as color you can now easily create them yourselves using Image Studio here within WA.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE...

I recently made changes to some old Black and White photographs that my Dad had from World War II. The one above was of a platoon of Buffalo Soldiers in Italy 1943.

This Italian village had just been liberated and these troops were making sure the German army and their equipment were no longer operational.

So I wanted to see how this picture would look in color. The quality of colorizing Black and White photographs depends on the original being used. AI does the best it can, see below.

If you don't know exactly what the colors should be, this is still a very impressive colorization of the original Black & White photographs. It even sharpened the image.

TURN DISCOLORED PHOTOS INTO COLOR OR B&W

Have you ever seen old photographs that changed color over long periods of time or perhaps turned a sepia yellowish color? This happens because of the paper it is printed on.

Regardless of how different or discolored the original picture has become, AI can restore it to a near-perfect, if not perfect, visual experience. See the below examples.

The above is one of two old WWII photographs I have of my Dad in his U.S. Army uniform from 1943 when he was stationed in Italy. Both are that same discolored drab color.

I used my scanner and scanned the photograph so I had a digital copy. Then I uploaded it into Image Studio as my reference image. My prompt = "Colorize and sharpen this old photograph."

The above is the colorized and sharpened picture of the original discolored photograph of my Dad feeding the Italian girl. Doesn't that look much better than the original?

I also took the original drab faded photograph and told Image Studio, prompt = Make this old photograph Black and White and sharpen it." You can see the results below.

ALWAYS START WITH THE ORIGINAL - HERE IS WHY

I wanted to test something out and see how well or poorly AI could colorize a Black and White picture that used to be color and / or have some color in it other than black, white & grays.

I put the above Black and White image I created from the original drab and faded photograph into Image Studio and told it, prompt = "Colorize this Black and White image of my Dad."

As you can see below, it did not do as well as it did when colorizing the original. The Buffalo and Staff Sergeant stripes on my Dad's arm were the wrong color as were his uniform and boots.

This shows me that when you go to colorize a Black and White picture, make sure that B&W is an original. Of course many people will not see the problem, if they don't know what it should be.

THIS CAN BE A MONEY MAKING OPPORTUNITY

The only thing I recommend you have, if you cannot get a digital image of the picture to be edited, is a flatbed scanner. Most printers nowadays have a scanner built in.
