How To Succeed At WA - Be The Methuselah Tree

Many people when they join Wealthy Affiliate will always have the same question about success. I want to share an interesting story about a famous tree in the Santa Cruz Mountains, tying it into how to succeed at Wealthy Affiliate.

Just like the growing of a tree, it takes time to grow your very own internet business. Too often, people think that earning a lot of money online, is easy and quick. Nothing online or off is quick and easy when it comes to earnings.

One of the many great things about Wealthy Affiliate (WA) is the diversity in ways you can earn money from what you learn here. This gives you the flexibility to choose how you can earn income, but how can you succeed at WA?

BE THE METHUSELAH TREE

If you were to Google Methuselah Tree you will most often be directed to a 4,858 year old Bristlecone Pine Tree in the White Mountains of Inyo National Forest in California. However, there is another Methuselah Tree in CA.

This is the lesser known of the Methuselah trees in California. It may not be as old as the Bristlecone Pine Tree but it is the biggest Old-Growth Redwood Tree in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Woodside, not far from San Francisco.

I personally have visited this MASSIVE tree a few times when I would visit my friends that live in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco Bay area. The name Methuselah is in reference to the age of this tree, which is over 1,800 years old.

The story behind the Old-Growth Methuselah Tree in Woodside, CA dates back to a little more than 1,860 years ago. It is slightly wider than 14 feet in diameter and it stands at over 200 feet tall, though it was taller before 1954.

In that year it was 225 feet tall but then a powerful coastal storm with sustained hurricane force winds, blew and broke off 98 feet of the top crown. Methuselah was now only 127 feet tall, still the biggest and oldest tree.

Methuselah was born in the late 2nd Century but began sprouting out of the ground in 217 AD. Ever since it has grown both higher and wider. It has also grown so deep into the ground, you cannot see any evidence of its roots.

You cannot even imagine everything this massive tree has experienced. Multiple lightning strikes, high winds, intense weather and even forest fires and yet it still stands strong and tall with bark so thick you can't cut it.

This tree is located just off of Skyline Blvd, a two lane winding road through the top ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Depending on the time of day, that road can be covered in clouds. It's wild driving through clouds.

Another famous part of Western California that is within a few miles of Methuselah is the San Andreas Fault. It's the cause of many of the state's earthquakes including the 1906 earthquake that destroyed most of San Francisco.

Unlike the old picture above from 1954, just after the top crown broke off, Methuselah has grown back its crown. There are now other smaller redwood trees surrounding it. These trees have come from the seeds of Methuselah.

HOW DOES THIS EQUATE TO WA SUCCESS?

Methuselah started growing strong in the sunlight of a mountain forest with not as many redwood trees around it. When you start growing your website business at WA, it is pretty much barren until you fill it with content.

Your website is clean, using only the basics of plugins and content that is still developing. The growth of your website business is steady, just like the 100 feet Methuselah grew in 100 years. One foot steady per year.

If you want to know how to succeed at WA, do just like this massive Old-Growth Redwood Tree and grow slow and steady. Keep your eyes on consistently growing, adapting to your surroundings and the storms of technical glitches.

Look at the base of Methuselah in relation to that adult male. Most trees you can see the top of its roots. You can't with this tree they go deep. Stay deep in the training courses, even if that means to take the course more than once.

Your WA education will act as a solid foundation for your website business, just like the roots of Methuselah rapping themselves around the rocks of the mountain. Methuselah is standing against the test of time, so will your website.

The more you put into the growing of your website content and interaction of comments, the more you will see your website rise in the Google rankings. Comments on your website are also indexed, just like the content you write.

Don't rush success. Methuselah didn't rush its growth and it developed into a 1,860 year Old-Growth Redwood Tree. It grew back its 98 foot tall crown and has survived everything that the other Redwood Trees have not.

Mother nature, fire, lightning, logging and even earthquakes couldn't stop Methuselah and your affiliate marketing business can be just as durable with effort, time and patience. It too can grow broad and high, earning you income.
