For Those Who Love New York City or Have Never Been

I was reading an online post by someone I know who said that he was only in New York on a stop over at the airport from Europe to California. When I mentioned that New York is much bigger than just the city he was amazed, because most times when people hear New York, they think of only New York City.

So for entertainment purposes, and for those in my WA family who have never been to New York City and what is known as Upstate New York, I would like to share these two short video tours. First is New York City and then the second video is of the Adirondack region of Upstate New York.

Just click the link under each picture. Enjoy!

Thank you for the wondrous intermission. Been dreaming of doing the loop in a new SeaRay. Start @ Florida then up the Mississippi River then over & through the lakes & through the locks via New York then down the eastern seacoast of the USofA back to Florida. Kind of like circumnavigating the original 13.
I remember walking throughout the canyon-like walls in NY City & also looking around & down from the Empire. Where else can you do a half million things, all @ a quarter to 3? http://youtu.be/Cz1iVOj0KNc

Thanks Robert.

That sounds AWESOME! Sort of like what I want to do when I retire. I want to drive a loop around the country in a RV.

Thank for the Huey Lewis video. One of my favorite songs of his.

ABSOLUTELY there is more to NYS than just NYC. Personally, the Adirondack region is AWESOME......especially the wine trails. :-) Aside from that, some of the BEST people came from Upstate. LOL.

Yes there is definitely much more to see and do than just New York City. The Adirondack region is nice, love Lake George, but the Catskill region is nice too. Have you ever been to the Mohonk Mountain House Resort near New Paltz?

Though I will not say the BEST people come from Upstate, I will say they are interesting. LOL

Nice pictures!

No, I have not been to that resort. There are so many places to go, it's hard to pick. OK, SOME of the best people come from upstate. :-)

Hmm...I wonder which "some" best people you are referring to. lol

Thanks for sharing, as I have never been to New York. It is obviously way more than the high rise buildings we are so use to thinking of when someone mentions New York. Some very beautiful scenery!

You are welcome. I'm happy you enjoyed the views. A lot of people only think of the city portion of NY because that is where the broadcast media is located, so naturally the city is what most people see. If you ever come to visit NY try to stay for at least 3 days so you can get a little taste of "The Big Apple."

Someday that is on my list! :)

Thank you for these. I've only been to NYC and Upstate New York twice but I absolute love it. And did more amazing things in Upstate New York than I've done all my life - white water rafting, hanggliding, visit the racetrack at Saratoga Springs, stay in a log cabin.... what a lot of wonderful memories...

You are welcome. - I like NYC but I love Upstate New York! The hiking, the camping, the hot-air ballooning, the wineries, the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz,...

Oh, thank you. I lived in Manhattan for 4 years and on Long Island for 7 years. I know NY State very well. Watching the Manhattan video brought tears to my eyes from wonderful memories. The music is gorgeous too.

Though I am not happy to bring tears to anyone's eyes, but I am glad they were tears of joy. My sister used to live on Long Island in East Northport for 12 years before moving to South Jersey and then down to Georgia.

I remember East Northport. I used to live in Hampton Bays.

I used to live in a town house at no 5 E81st and 5th Ave. Close to the Met and Central Park. Great location!

Wow, that is a great location!

My ex-husband was a diplomat LOL, that kind of location was required for cocktail parties and dinners and so on.

Definitely a nice area for that!

I had the privilege of visiting for one day and it was awesome!

One day is definitely not enough. Next time you come this way try to stay for at least 3 days. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for a great photos and videos.

You are welcome and glad you enjoyed them.

Hello my brother, I love New York. Been there, almost got robbed by 2 cowboys from TEN (1978, they picked the wrong guy though & got the sh.. kicked out of them), had to spend 11 miserable hours in the airport because of SNOW (1981) and got sick from something I ate (1985).
Why do I love New York? Because we all need something we really hate. And I hate the Yankees, they are located in N.Y., so I LOVE ME the city of N.Y. :-)

Makes sense?

John

Well you know my brother, New York City consist of 5 boroughs: Staten Island (where the Yankees Minor League team plays), Queens (where the Mets play), Bronx (where the Yankees play), Manhattan (where the NY/SF Giants played), and Brooklyn (where the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers played).

A lot of great baseball teams gets started here. So I can understand you not liking the Yankees (27 World Series wins) but the Dodgers are a NY creation too. :-)

When I was a kid I lived two blocks from Ebbets Field. You could go wait by the subway stop and watch as the players got off to go to games. There's wonderful documentary, "The Ghosts of Flatbush" about the love affair Brooklyn had with the Dodgers. We hated the Yankees. There was no sweeter year than 1955 when we beat those Damn Yankees.

The love affair ended in 1957 when Walter O'Malley the owner of the Dodgers took them away to LA. I was 9, and if I had a gun with two bullets and Waler O'Malley, Hitler and Stalin were all in same room, I would have shot O'Malley twice.

I played Little League after that, but I've never watched a game since.

LOL Wow! You really hated O'Malley! I know my Dad was also quite upset they left Brooklyn. He later started following the Mets. And though he took me to my first baseball game at Shea Stadium as a boy, once I got into my 20s a really started to watch baseball, I became a Yankees fan. My Dad couldn't understand why.

Good reason for a Dodger fan not to like the Yanks.....27 WS WINS. Of course I rooted for Reggie Bush, oh craps, meant to say Williams, way back then

Here you have it. One thing I loved about the Yanks
John

All this talk of baseball and the Dodgers has made me make up my mind in how I am going to relax in about 5 minutes. I am going to watch the movie 42: The Jackie Robinson Story. It is one of the must have DVD movies in my collection.

Good

The funny thing is I found when watching "The Ghosts of Flatbush" it wasn't really O'Malley's fault the Dodgers left Brooklyn, it was Robert Moses. So, maybe it's better that I never actually shot O'Malley. ;^)
But, I was one angry nine-year-old.

Just another example of why anger is overrated, Phil.

Hey Robert,
How did you get a picture of my house? LOL!

You can get a lot of great pictures with a GoPro camera attached to a drone. LOL

I love New York. Been there many times.
Thanks for posting :)

You are welcome Shawn. Glad you liked my neck-of-the-woods. :)

Love it!
