Are You Smarter Than Your Smartphone? – How to Use Smartphone Technology

Last Update: January 03, 2014

Technology has helped us live our lives better and there are also times where technology has made our lives more difficult. However I am going to explain to you how to use smartphone technology to help you with the writing of your content and to help you when you are attempting to fix writer’s block. I came up with the idea for this blog when I commented on another Wealthy Affiliate blog post the other day. It is something that many of us may not think about doing yet we have the tools to do it all within the palm of our hand.

WRITER’S BLOCK

Sometimes when you are creating content for your website you may run into what many writers occasionally experience called writer's block. When this happens there is one of two things you can do about this. You can either, continue and try to break that writer’s block and possibly screw up the natural flow of your content, or you can step away and do something totally different to help clear your mind.

When I get writer’s block I prefer the latter. By focusing on something totally different not only do I get the chance to clear my mind but I get the chance to possibly accomplish some other form of work or chores that need to be done. I equate this to that old saying, killing two birds with one stone.

Sometimes when doing a different action, whether it be another chore, exercising by taking a walk, going out to the store, or a drive around town, it may free up your thoughts and give you something inspirational to write about. Perhaps you will be at a restaurant, a store, a mall, or where ever, and something will spark your imagination. When this happens, what will you do to remember your thoughts for later when you sit back down at your computer to work?

YOUR SMARTPHONE CAN HELP YOU A LOT

Take out your smartphone and type in your idea into the smartphone’s notepad app, which every smartphone has. If for some reason your smartphone doesn't have that app or you can’t find it, then you can send your own smartphone a text message. Let's say you don’t want or can’t text for some reason, you can use the smartphone's voice message app or turn on the video option and record yourself speaking whatever you wish to remember for later.

Those are just 4 ways that you can use your smartphone to help you remember ideas when creating content and when you are not in front of your computer. But there is even more you can use your smartphone for when creating content and/or breaking that writer's block when out and about.

USE THE STILL & VIDEO CAMERA

Let us say that your niche is in weight loss or in a certain type of food. You could use your smartphone to take pictures of the food you eat when ordering out, when cooking at home or produce in the supermarket. You basically can use your smartphone to take pictures and videos of whatever that will represent your niche.

We are always looking for images to put within our content but must be careful copying any picture from the internet to avoid being sued for copyright infringement. Taking the pictures yourself with your smartphone will eliminate that possible threat.

There is so much that your smartphone can do for the creation of your content in addition to being a great tool to show off what you are doing here at Wealthy Affiliate. Like I have said to several new members on the comment stream about “How do you promote Wealth Affiliate in person?”, it is always better to show people what you do and learn here at Wealthy Affiliate than it is to just tell them.

Having a smartphone, or a tablet, provides you with so many options in helping you to not only be ready for when you break your writer's block but also to help you create the content for your webpages and blog posts if they should arise when you are away from your computer. The benefits of technology, that’s a lot of power within your hands.

I use my note app a lot. It does come in handy for just about anything.

If I meet someone, I add their information in my phone right away as well. Also, can add notes about the person as I have a note section.

Thanks for sharing. Debbie

It is amazing the things we can use the smartphones and tablets for. I like when I have my iPad with me and I show people the websites I created here at WA. It looks nicer on an iPad than an iPhone.

Thanks for reading my post Debbie

What a great blog, Robert. What's the use of having a smartphone if you don't utilize its capabilities? I particularly like the use of the smartphone for taking pictures related to your website content. It can be hard to find appropriate images. Using your smartphone will increase you image library.

That's what I've been using my phone for. Taking pictures when I am out and about that are relevant to my websites. It is hard to find free pictures online that you are sure are free.

Thank you Max for your blog which gave me the inspiration to write this blog. :)

Now I have to venture out into 10 degree weather to make sure the dig out my Chevy Equinox that the plow pushed up in front of it before it freezes solid tonight. Not looking forward to this. Wind chill is at 0. But I better do it before I lose whatever motivation I have left. :(
