Come on Robert. My suspenders are killing me. I mean the suspension is killing me ππππ
Peter, Rob's answer is wrong 358, becomes 1359 by removing 2 sticks from the 8. Check it yourself
Just saying ^_^ Cheers
JD says I'm wrong, but I did exactly what his instructions said.
He asked for the highest number available by moving 2 sticks from 358.
I did exactly what JD said. I took 2 sticks from the 8 turning it into a 9, and then took the said 2 sticks and put them in front of the 3, making the number 1359.
Just saying ^_^ Cheers
No, because with that puzzle system the 9 needs a bar across at the bottom. But I think it could become 1353
I might need an AI to explain as well... But I am pretty sure you can't take two sticks in one move and then two sticks again in a second move.
No, try this, draw an 8, in matchstick you need 7 matchsticks, for a 9 you only need 5, leaving 2 free. Try it you can get 1359
But with Robert's system the 9 needs a 'bar' or 'umbrella handle' across the bottom, that's why it doesn't let it count. Depends on the 'rules' of the game. I'm not going to argue...
No look at the image again in the original brain teaser, they are matchsticks. Accountants pay attention to details.
Just saying ^_^ Cheers
#1 = 30
#2 = 999
#3 = He was born in hospital room number 1933 and died at the age of 75 in hospital room number 1946.
Love this! π§ Excited to try the puzzles.
#1 = 30
#2 = 890
#3 = 75 (1933 & 1946 are room numbers, not years)
Canβt wait to see the answers and how everyone else did! π
#1 = 30; #2 = 1359; #3 = they are house numbers or hospital room number, (I go for house numbers) Just saying ^_^ Cheers
Rob your answer is wrong 358, becomes 1359 by removing 2 sticks from the 8. Check it yourself. You asked for the highest number by moving 2 sticks. I did exactly that,
Just saying ^_^ Cheers
Rats, so I didn't get the room type right, shucks.
Anyway good brain teaser, had fun ^_^ Cheers

30,
853,
???
JD
#1 = Correct
#2 = Wrong
#3 = Wrong
After looking at you replies. You say the answer is 995.
Your original numbers "358" seem to be constructed with matchsticks. Something I missed before. With 2 moves I can get 998.
Please explain this one. I read your explanation to Peter, but I don't get it at 6:50 am.
JD
A 9 and a 6 both require six sticks each. Here are two screen shots from two other puzzles I have done...but never got correct, which is why I haven't posted them here.
Thanks, Rob.
I still didn't get it. So, I took it to ChatGPT and now I do.
