I can't emphasize this enough! I find though there are alot of themes that unless I settle for whats here to make my sites shine I need to play and get my hands dirty.

That means, Getting in there and trying different things. Don't be afraid of playing because people will see all the changes in your site. Because...........at first unless they know you exist like friends and family, if you are not ranked noone is finding you.

Believe me on this, I had a site up for a few years laying dormant years ago naievly thinking if I built it the traffic would come. Hahaahahaah I think I had 3 visitors in all that time so don't fret about someone watching you go crazy changing and refining your design.

I know for me, with a design background I have to test all different kinds of things out before I'm actually satisfied. I have been through more themes and designs this week and the good thing about it is that each time I learn more and more.

Back to my point, learning your software, wordpress is going to be your best friend once you tackle that learning curve! I spent 6 hours last night revamping my whole theme but I learned that they are many ways of getting around my design issues.

Believe me, I have alot of them!

I love working with different fonts, doing weird word wraps, stylizing my menus differently and you know what I have learned? You can do it all with word press but it takes getting in there and actually using it for all its worth.

I spent hours learning how to work my menus last night and finding a theme that was able to build my own style sheets (css) but with that comes even more learning. Learning that HTML, yes back to that again! you can individualize your whole site knowing HTML! I need a site that puts me into social networking and is compatible with tablets and mobile phones. I need a site with a clean feel and is very interactive.

I found it, but it but only by trial and error and getting in there and finding out by trial and error what I did and didn"t like about wordpress and how my themes interacted.

If it takes you days to work through wordpress DO IT. One step at a time,

For me it usually happens when my backs against the wall with a design problem and then I settle in trying to figure out how I can solve my problem and it usually leads me into a world of knowledge so that as I set up more sites, In the long run it is going to take me less and less time. If I know how to jump my design and technical problem within wordpress I've conquered a big time management problem.

So, get in there and get dirty. Work your wordpress and learn that code- If this is really what you want to be when you grow up invest the time and it will lead to big rewards and alot of time saved down the road.

HAPPY LEARNING ! :)
