The Elusive Niche
You know those little boxes you’re supposed to check when you finish a task in the training? So, lesson 3, last little box says “Choose Your Niche!” OK. Well I have plenty of ideas, generally, but haven’t chosen THE ONE. Trying to be in integrity each step of the way with this because “Well begun is half done” someone of great repute once said, so I don’t yet check the box.
On to lesson 4, and it becomes obvious that the selection of a niche is vital to moving forward, and I feel that little box nagging me…waiting to be checked off. I want to move forward, but it keeps dragging me back. SO, the brain starts sputtering and churning, churning and sputtering – looking for the right landing place. Some people just seem to KNOW these things. Making decisions has not always been an easy thing for me, and this seems like such a big one. Training says it’s not, but for me somehow, being one of those purpose-driven types, I’m making it a big deal.
I want my niche to feel just right. Building a web-site is an act of creation, a great opportunity, a revealing of my soul online!! What I will be creating should be of value, have meaning, even change the world for the better; Yikes!! It should be beautiful, inspiring, informative, intelligent, AND have the potential to make some money; YIKES!!
Am I overthinking this?
So my brain continues to grind and crash into itself for a few days. Middle of the night, waking up…brain still searching…any quiet moment…brain doesn’t quit. I ask the Universe to reveal my niche to me, but my mind is too busy to hear a response. Basically I give myself a headache, until finally one morning…
I decide enough is enough. I’ve scanned the corners of my heart and mind. This is supposed to be fun. I surrender and allow myself to meditate and let go of the discursive mind…and then it just flows in…the words I’ve been waiting for. So effortless. They feel good! They meet the criteria. Ah…peace.

Looking forward to it. Piece of advice...use your first website like you would training wheels on a bike and then develop your real bicycle, it might be less stressful in the long run. Your first site lets you practice and make all the mistakes you like in readiness for your 'true' site.
Thanks for the perspective. Yes I certainly have a lot to learn and expect setbacks...everything I'm doing with WA is a first...i.e. this was my first Blog!! Kind of fun...Have you reached your "true" site?
