"Procrastination is the thief of time." "Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today." "The early bird catches the worm." Most all of us have heard these terms before. Are you a Procrastinator ? I AM, big time.

Why is it that I cannot do what is right and progressive to do, but on the contrary, the things I should not do that ?

Today however, I make the decision to break free.

Hi
I can totally relate - I am the ultimate procrastinator and I've came to the conclusion that it is like any other bad habit or addictive behavior, it can be changed in small steps and with great insight and patience. I think it is partly a learned behavior as my parents are master procrastinators as well - lol. I heard a theory once that us procrastinators do it for the adrenaline rush we get of pushing the limits (with me I can see that ;) and because we have an innate belief in ourselves that despite our procrastination, we will still get the task done. That being said, it is definitely a way we self sabotage. I also heard that most procrastinators are also perfectionists, and we don't like to start a task until we know we can do it perfectly - I think this is the theory that helped me the most.... The first steps are always the hardest and nobody is ever perfect, only learning in life - Hang in there my fellow procrastinator! :)

Raven, you have nailed it head on, to the letter everything you have said. I am hanging in here with WA and with you. Blessings always.

Bems, it took me two times to decide if WA was for me. After reading 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill twice, I came back to WA. The book talked about the 16 principles of the bible, so I came back and upgraded to Premium. I found my passion for helping people. And that's how we have crossed paths. God bless you!

Thank you for the Blessing, Ricardo. Still having a problem with that beast on WA, Scheduling of my many activities is critical here. Blessings to you also. God is in total control.

Bems, you know that God is the answer to any and all of our problems. Amen!

Amen Bernadine.

Oh, Yes! I know about that beast of Procrastination! LOL
I am proud of you for recognizing your foe and making the decision to stand and conquer! :)

Onward and upward!

Amen to that Eileen.

:)

Yes, I am a procrastinator. I am a professional at justifying it too.
This place and great people like you help remind me of the consequences.
Thank you!

There are many types of help offered to those of us who procrastinate habitually, from psychological help to hypnotherapy, but the technique that seems to work the best for me is if I simply take a piece of paper, put a heading on it that identifies the key objective, for example "COMPLETE MY AFFILIATE BOOTCAMP TRAINING" and then list all of the things I'll lose if I don't do the required work and at the end commit to a completion date and enter it all on my calendar. Sharing this document with a number of people whose respect is important to me makes this even more a stimulus.

Or you can just print up a sign on a full piece of 8 1/2 x 10 paper that states: "Am I inventing things to do to avoid doing the really important works?" and tape it to the wall above your monitor. Or, you can even do both.

Gene

Thanks Gene for your response and advice.
