Disaster to Inspiration - A short road

Hey everyone

I recently went through an interesting process and I was very surprised at what the eventual outcome was.

When I first decided on a niche, I chose a name for my website that related to my niche, and started to work on writing content for my blog. A short time later I realized that I wasn't going to be able to do much with this topic. I changed my focus and forged ahead creating content for a new topic.

Several weeks later, for some reason, I looked at my domain name and blog name, I really looked at them and noticed in dismay that they did not match what I was writing about. I couldn't believe that I hadn't noticed this before. I knew that I had to change this. In my mind, my domain name and blog name had to reflect what my content was.

I started researching what I needed to do and every place I looked, there was a different opinion about changing your domain name and transferring content from one site to another.

I made up my mind that this is what I wanted to do. I understood that I would take a hit in my rankings, if there were any, but I believed that I would recover.

I settled on a website and blog name that matched my niche. I also found a word that I added to the name in an attempt to make it unique. This word inspired all kind of ideas.

I still wasn't satisfied that I had found the method to transfer my old site to the new, but then I remembered a lady named Marion Black a fellow member here. I had asked her a question once before about doing things in Wordpress and she was very helpful.

Marion pointed out to me that there is a button in Siterubix labelled "move". You push this button, you're asked which site to send the current site to, and everything is done for you. All of the redirects and stuff is set up for you. All I had to do was a bit of fine tuning of settings and such and my new website was set up.

I ended up with a domain name I really like and a dose of inspiration to help me continue to write content. Making me aware of the "move" button made me realize that I had not paid much attention to exploring Wealthy Affiliates and all that is offered here. If you post a question, lots of people respond with an answer. There are tons of tutorials and videos that cover any question you might have.

I took some time last weekend, to explore and find things. I look back at this whole process as an opportunity to learn a lot. I also was reminded of how much I appreciate the Wealthy Affiliates community.

My first mistake as a newbie was registering first a domain name before going on with the lessons. I have no other choice I have to use it because I bought it and I have a limited income. But as I go along with WAU I found it a wonderful one.

However, it is not advisable to do it. The proper process as laid down on the Online Entrepreneur Certification Course is to have your niche first and everything follows. That's where SiteRubix is excellent.

Good thing you were able to cope up with your experience. it's great to learn here.

Thanks for the comments. It's encouraging when fellow members respond to your blog.

There is no place else that offers all that Wealthy Affiliate has to offer for the price we pay, is there? Then, we get the benefit of the knowledge of so many here who are willing to help! I would not go anywhere else.

Blessings,
Debby
