One Gmail Account to Rule Them All

Are you in the habit of creating a new email account every time you create a new domain?

I used to do that but now use one Gmail account for business purposes.

In order to keep that one gmail account spam-free as possible, I recommend using contact forms on your sites so that mail harvesting bots don't collect your real email addresses.

What is the Trick to Using One Gmail Account to Rule All Your Domains?

Simply use the "+" syntax and filters provided by Gmail. This is probably best explained using examples.

Example

One owns the domain "bubbabbq" and wants 3 separate email accounts on that domain: an info account, a contact account, and a sales account.

For example purposes, all email will be sent to rulethemall@gmail.com. In the contact forms and email links, all the following email would be delivered to that address.

rulethemall+infobubbabbq@gmail.com

rulethemall+contactbubbabbq@gmail.com

rulethemall+salesbubbabbq@gmail.com

One can also use dashes following the plus sign for readability:

rulethemall+info-bubbabbq@gmail.com

rulethemall+contact-bubbabbq@gmail.com

rulethemall+sales-bubbabbq@gmail.com

Of course, the above can be extended to as many domains as you own.

Filtering

To make life simple, create separate labels in the "rulethemall" account for each domain and user then filter the incoming email to the appropriate label. If you don't know how to create a filter, Google "how to create a gmail filter" and you'll get many examples.
