I'm already seeing it. Sites adding a category for Christmas 2016.
If you have a product site, you might want to consider adding a gift section and articles specializing in items expected to be hot this year.
If you're marketing the WA affiliate program, I wonder if we could sell Kyle and Carson as stocking stuffers ($$$ being placed in stockings :)

Indeed there is no harm in creating a permanent 'gift section' on your website. At least your visitors will know where to find the gifts irrespective of the occasion. It's a great idea if well planned.
