Getting Better Sound Quality Without Expensive Equipment
If you're interested in building your following and increasing SEO, then you may have heard that using videos are a great tool to do this!
And that's true but many people are put off by the thought of needing expensive equipment for recording, microphones, software and background noise reduction.
If you invest in these things, yes you will get great production value and amazing quality, but not everyone can afford to or even wants to buy complicated products.
Instead I have TWO things, one was a professional microphone on a budget and the other is absolutely free.
Item one is a Samson C01u - a microphone that you just plug in with a USB connection and it's ready to go.
Item two is a free sound recording and editing software called Audacity.
With these tools I can record audio with great quality even though I have a loud computer.
Want to know how?
This is my natural audio, you can see when I'm talking by those big blue spikes and when I'm not talking the line is much thinner. But it's still got background noise.
Ideally you want a flat line when you're not speaking, this means zero sound. Like this:
On the left - the natural audio. On the right - noise is reduced to nothing and it sounds a lot more professional.Noise Reduction with Audacity
Step 1: Record a few seconds with your microphone without talking.
This captures your background noise which we want to cut out.
Step 2: In Audacity select your recording, go to the top and click on Effect -> Noise Removal
Step 3: Click Get Noise Profile - Audacity will now recognise your natural background noise.
Step 4: Record your audio with talking
Step 5: Select your new recording (all of it), go back into Effect -> Noise Removal and click the remove option like below.
