One of the great things about WA is that you can always ask people to review a page/post/site and ask for their comments. However, sometimes people are busy and as you're learning to build your site, you also need to acquire the skills to assess some things for yourself.

Here is a basic checklist. It's very much a starter list to use in the first two or three weeks and as you progress there will be other things that you'll want to add.

Please find the full sized list here

Thank You Beverley!

Thanks. Hope you find it useful.

Hi Beverley,
Awesome as ever, I think we could all use this, I for one do the work, look at try to check it, publish and move on, then when I go back find I missed something or something does not look right, so I am using the theory but from now on I will pin this to my laptop and save more time!
Thanks kind lady!
Bernie!

Thanks Bernie.
As I said to Patty - I think I need to do another one for those of us who have been at it a bit longer but still need reminders to keep our sites looking good.

Where was this when I started? Ha. Who am I kidding, I could use this tips today.

Thanks Beverley. :)

LoL - I need to do another one for people with a little more experience.

Ah, the infographic queen strikes again! Brilliant as usual.

Thanks Paul!

Thanks for this Beverly, very helpful.

Thank you. Hope you find it useful

This might be a silly question, but when creating captions for your images, should you put quotes around the caption? For example, "Working Online," (an image of someone on a laptop) or just Working Online? Maybe I am being too picky, just wondering if there was a rule on this. :P

Thanks for the post.

There are no "rules" and even if they were you could ignore them. I don't normally use them unless it's a direct quote of what someone has said.

If I want font color, I usually go to my html editor and make up the page and then transfer it to WP. I don't know much about colored fonts with WP. Guess I'll go to one of my sites and see if I can color some letters. lol John

Lots of people do use one of the many available plugins John. Unfortunately they don't always use them wisely.

Thanks, Beverly, Nice Reminder to have handy! Sherry M

Thanks Sherry. Hope you find it useful.

Excellent timing for my next venture. I'll have to print this and check things off as I go. I'm assuming but Standard Pages you're meaning, in addition to Privacy: About Me, Home, Blog? I know these will be subject to your site but I do find many visitors will check your About Me page. Thanks for another great graphic.

Thanks Rick.

Yes - those sort of things. I didn't actually want to list them all in case I missed one off - but hopefully people understand from the training. As I said - it really is just a starter list - I would add quite a few things as people progress.

very nice. I have also been told to avoid large banners (or too many) because it makes it look spammy. This is a good "to do" list :)

Yes - you're right. There are lots of things that could be added like have you an Akismet key and have you replied to comments - but I just put some of the common things that I find when I look. Thanks for commenting.
