I'm a fellow newbie of about 2-3 weeks, and I found the most helpful thing for ME was to read through posts in the forums like there was no tomorrow :-) Amazing stuff in there! And I have to say, the oft-repeated advice of "actually DO IT" was also a good one. I learned a ton just by making my first lens. Good luck!
