Mindless Meaningless Mundane and Menial
If you are like me, most of your time is spent trying to save the world, be a friend to each human on the face of the earth, right all wrongs, keep the universe intact...... Yup. Kidding. Well, sort of.........
But then there are times to do some mindless, meaningless, mundane and menial tasks.
As a young Associate Pastor, I had a friend who was an administrative assistant. One of her weekly tasks was to fold 800 bulletins (church news report).

It took nearly the entire day to complete the task. I commented to her once that she must hate Thursdays (folding day). She told me it was one of the best days of the week. She said she need a day to do something mindless, meaningless, mundane and menial.
She said she basically disengaged her brain and had a happy time. She didn't have to worry about mistakes, management, misunderstandings or machinery.
We all need that occasionally. To be fully focused on the important things, we need a day, or part of a day, to let the world save itself, the universe continue to function without our help and our business to grow perpetually (with out any pushing from us).
Try it some time. It is good for our mental, emotional and physical soundness!
Just sayin

I think that doing "something mindless, meaningless, mundane and menial" is a sort of meditation, isn't it? After all, meditation has precisely that aim: stopping the furious activity of your mind, you can connect with your higher and real self.

Doing those mundane tasks is a good time to focus on my websites and think of improvements or what I am going to blog about next.
This is excellent advice for when we are pushing forward so hard that it sometimes takes taking a step back and just watch and absorb. Thanks for the sharing.

Yeah, sad as it may be, the world will continue on even in my absence. Sometimes in the work environment it's hard to realize that we are not irreplaceable. I do like days with the mindless tasks. Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Sue
Good point well made sir. It can be difficult sometimes to entirely disengage yourself from what's going on, but I think it's very beneficial to simply give your mind time to assimilate what has happened over the past few days without trying to push it through some of the time.
