If you read books that focus on self development and productivity you may have come across Atomic Habits written by James Clear. This book is a great read about developing small habits and repeating them daily for small wins. Eventually if you do them long enough and make them part of your everyday being, the big wins will ensue. Today I created a new habit which will hopefully be a new routine to help create momentum.

Second Shift Work Schedule

I can bet many of you on the platform work full time or part time jobs at the moment. Your goal is to eventually cut the shackles on that life and work for yourself. Am I correct? If so, I totally feel you and aspire to do the same. My current situation has me working the 3pm-11pm shift in the Emergency 911 Call Center in my local county. The job is draining and the hours are okay, but not ideal. After work is usally time to unwind and think about the whirlwind of a shift that just occured. I still hear phones ringing in my head on my drive home, which is probably why I don't listen to the radio! Anyway, getting up early has been a bit of a struggle for a few months now. The motivation hasn't been there mentally when it feels just good enough to get those extra winks after a long second shift the night before.

Change Of Pace

After some reading and deep thinking last night it was time to form a new habit. This new habit consists of getting home from work and taking the necessary time needed to decompress from the J.O.B. and getting to bed at an earlier time. With that in mind, the alarm on my phone is now set at a specific time in the morning and is placed on my dresser across the room. This tactic will allow me to actually get out of bed to turn the damn thing off and be ready to go. Today, this allowed me to get moving early and get onto this platform. My goal for the day was to complete my website registration, About Page and Privacy Policy. This was accomplished and it feels pretty good.

Goals For The Near Future

The end is nowhere near and that's why small daily goals I feel will eventually lead to the bigger wins down the road. My goal for the near future is to continue this habit daily as I move to building out my site and creating content. Becoming a content creator and proficient copywriter are my two main goals that I know can translate into other projects down the road as I build my portfolio. Thinking of this venture as a business and business owner will surely change the way my motivation and habits align.

I hope you as members and readers can gain some value from listening to my productive day. The key is to maintain consistency in the little habits and build something special that turns into a full time business.

Ciao!
