One Year of Wealthy Afflliate

It's been a year since I first joined WA. A year in which I've reached some goals and failed to reach others, but have also learned more than I could have imagined about building an online business.
Here are a few of the things I've learned during my time in WA.
Follow the Lessons
The lessons are laid out so that you have everything you need when you need it, but they're delivered in small bites so you don't get overwhelmed. The only thing I would do differently from what's laid out is that I would wait a bit before choosing an affiliate program other than Amazon. The place it's introduced is probably fine for people with more marketing experience, but I would have made different choices if I'd waited until I had a few more lessons under my belt and a more substantial amount of content built up. But that's just me.

One of the best things about WA is its supportive community. Just a few of the benefits the community provides are: encouragement; personal answers to your questions; the vast library of member-created supplemental training; feedback on your website; comments on your posts; and social media support. When I was most active in the community, I made greater progress on my site and was motivated to create more and better content. When real life has kept me away, my site--and therefore my progress--has languished.
Explore the Classrooms and Video Classes
I can't begin to tell you how valuable the various training units are. I could spend months--maybe even years--in the WA classrooms and never get through it all. Because I love to learn and because neither marketing nor technology is a strength for me, the vast library of information has been a treasure trove for me. When I need to know how to do something technical for my website, I just do a search for it. But the tutorials are just as valuable, or even more so, when I don't have anything in particular in mind. I just search through them, the way I used to explore the stacks in the library, finding new resources and learning about things I wouldn't have even known to ask about.
Be Consistent
This one is so important. If I could change one thing about the past year, it would be to post something new every week, no matter what was going on in my everyday life. Unfortunately, I can't time travel, so all I can do is pledge to do better going forward. Which brings me to...
When You Fail, Keep Going
We all fall short of our goals sometimes. When that happens, we have two choices. Give up, or dust off our britches, adjust our course as needed, and keep going. Giving up gets us nowhere. Picking ourselves up and pushing onward can get us closer to our dreams.
See you at the top.
