How well does your site-map work?

When you are working on your website.Do you ever stop and think about your sitemap to help you gain a better ranking with both Google and Bing search engines. I was surprised to learn about how important this is to do and what you are missing out on if it is not completed.

I have had so many set backs getting my website ready to use and use the right way. Sure you can set up the website with the getting started training. That will get you up and running and maybe you will figure it out as you go. I myself perfer to get it all set up right and then move on further after that. I can't stand to do rework. It is time consuming and really not necessary most of the time.

I say this all the time and I mean it. When you are a newbee start from the begining with the training. Either the bootcamp or the 4 step getting started training. The choice is yours. both are fantastic and you'll learn lots of wonderful pertenant content to make you into a new affiliate member.

I've looked at all kinds of data from both sides of the fence on the internet. Some good, some not good and rather offencive. What I would like to add. It is perfectly fine to use an hour of your time to watch webinars. Your not working all the time plus there are GREAT NUGGETS that Jay or others will leave for us to grasp hold of.

In fact I will be leaving on this blog a recent webinar that Jay had completed for all of us on webdesign and sitemap registration. So take some time and go over it. I will also post some great Information from Wordpress on site map alterations and why?

How do I get the best listing in search engines?

<< | >>

This is referred to as "SEO" -- Search Engine Optimisation. Many web sites, forums, and companies exist that aim/claim to help with that.

But it basically comes down to this:

  • In your site design, use text rather than images and Flash for important content
  • Make your site work with JavaScript, Java and CSS disabled
  • Organise your site such that you have pages that focus on a particular topic
  • Avoid HTML frames and iframes
  • Use normal URLs, avoiding links that look like form queries (http://www.example.com/engine?id)
  • Market your site by having other relevant sites link to yours
  • Don't try to cheat the system (by stuffing your pages of keywords, or attempting to target specific content at search engines, or using link farms)
