Summer Daze~Summer Haze~How Was Your Summer?
Well summer has come and is almost gone. For the parents that have young children, like myself…whew! Glad that school is almost back in session. Don't get me wrong I love being with my kids but I’m ready to get back to our normal routine~school, sports, etc!
How was your Summer? Did you travel? Staycation? Vacation? Camping? Travel Far? Travel Near? Whatever the case, I hope you found yourself happy, healthy and relaxed.
Our summer was a little different this year. Typically, we try to get in two trips over the summer; however, with this “amazing” economy and big businesses trying to crush small business owners(this guy), we had to scale it down to one trip this year. Our travels took us to one of my favorite places, Costa Rica. I know you’re thinking “wow” they aren’t doing too bad if they get to go to Costa Rica? Well hold on…we are blessed to have amazing friends that have an beautiful home there.
Their home sits atop the mountains just outside of San Jose and the views are amazing! The best of Costa Rica is the climate change. In just a matter of minutes of driving we were burning up on the black sand beaches of Jaco beach while the next day were freezing zip lining near one the several volcanoes they have there. It is certainly a place to put on the bucket list for sure. My only regret~we’ve been there twice and still haven’t seen monkeys!
After our return to reality, I decided that I wanted to do something educational over the summer since my business traditionally slows down during the summer season. Apparently,a lot of people don’t do much grocery shopping over the summer. My decision was that I wanted to learn how to build a website. So after a lot of surfing around, I stumbled upon an amazing site, Wealthy Affiliate. Wow! Has this site/community been a blessing. It’s not just a website, it’s a community of people working together to individually build their own dream niche businesses online. They have so many tools and programs built right in that anyone can do it. From blogging sites to retail sites, you have the tools, the amazing developers of the site(Kyle and Carson-who do help you out if you need help), the tools, the videos and the members right there to help you every step of the way. I highly recommend you check them out.
The last part of my summer “learning adventure” was presented to me from a dear friend/mentor/father figure of mine,if you will. He approached me while I was walking my dogs one day in June. He asked that I stop over and see something that he was involved in and excited about. I took him up on his offer and I decided to meet him for breakfast the next day. He introduced me to the plant, Hemp. Now I know what you’re thinking…what kind of friend is he? Well he’s 77 years old and his life story is truly amazing. He is a visionary, entreprenuer, business owner, ex professional baseball player, etc. His life journey has taken him from the top to the bottom and back again. But enough about him, what he explained to me was that Hemp is not the Mary J that everyone has been fooled by big business and the government into believing it is. As a matter of fact, its contains no THC’s(responsible for the “high” of the Mary J plant) but contains cannabidiol (CBD’s) which are found naturally in our own system. Additionally, Hemp is a brilliant plant that can be used in over 25,000 products. Hemp is refined into products such as hemp seed foods, hemp oil, wax, resin, rope, cloth, pulp, paper, and fuel. The company he is a part of is the first of its kind in the network marketing industry. They currently have over 10 hemp based products and over 70 more in development. The hemp industry is an exploding industry that could literally boost our economy. My friends due diligence and expertise in this industry convinced me to take a look. Well the bottom line is I’m proud to have joined the revolution and be a part of this new billion dollar industry.
I’ll close with this. What I have taken away from this summer has been what I believe to be a blessing in disguise. I owe my dear friend, my new business and Wealthy Affiliate for providing a clearer picture! My two learning opportunities of the Summer of 2014 now work hand in hand. I’d like to thank you for reading about my summer. I welcome any feedback, comments, your own stories, etc. In the words of the Zac Brown Band, “I’ve got my toes in the water, ass in the sand, not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand, life is good today! Life is good today!” I’m not there yet but I know where I’m going!
All the best in health, wealth and success,
Robert
