Recently, while working with one of my affiliate partners, I realized that when people click on my affiliate link and go to their website, they see their main phone number at the top of the screen.

I get credit if someone fills out one of my affiliate partner's information request forms, but if they call the main number, no one knows that lead came from me and my site. So, I reached out to my affiliate partner, and they gave me a unique phone number that shows at the top of the screen for new leads to see if they choose to call instead of filling out a contact form online. My demographic in my experience likes to pick up the phone and speak to a real person before they fill out an information form online. And once they do that, the call taker can just get their information over the phone and never ask if the lead came from my website. That's on me!

I should have figured that out a month and over 600 leads ago (I can track the leads sent from my site to my affiliate partner's site through the portal they have set up for their affiliates). For me, it's "spilled milk under a bridge" (that's a line from the movie "Margin Call.") I have fixed the issue and appreciate that my affiliate partner gave me the unique phone number shortly after I brought the issue to their attention.

Anyways, no one is going to protect your business better than you...ever! So, as you make mistakes, correct them quickly and write them down or remember them so that you do not repeat them as they can impede your growth as an Affiliate Marketer and a Website Creator. Repeating mistakes can cost you both time and money. Time is money and time is something that you can never get back. Keep your wits about you though. You are a captain always trying to keep the ship steady on rough waters. If you overreact, you can cause great damage to the ship which could make it impossible for you to carry on with your business.
