About Barbil
Joined September 2020
I work full-time as a pipeline inspector and heavy equipment operator.

For the past twenty-two years, I have been trying to earn money from various businesses on the internet. At first I joined some affiliate programs and began posting their banner ads on the top of every website I owned.

I had a number of online stores, where I purchased products at wholesale and I also tried drop-shipping products. I also began hosting websites, and doing web design.

My wife and I created BarBil Enterprises in 1998 and went online with our first store selling software. The products were drop-shipped at first, but after awhile, we stopped that and went to buying wholesale instead. We eventually stopped selling software, because we took a big 2k hit from a scam buyer.

After that, we went into service businesses. Web design, SEO, and web hosting. Because of my web design experience and because I had hosting covered, I also began trying to generate income using Google Ads and pointer pages. I had a little success with that, but nothing to get really excited about.
The entire time I was doing all this, I was also marketing my affiliate links on my various websites.

So, after twenty-plus years of trying to make something happen online, I am back full-circle to affiliate marketing.

I know affiliate marketing works, because it has worked for me in the past. So I need to learn how to scale out and create enough income that my wife and I can rely on a steady income during our retirement. My retirement is rapidly approaching, so I need to get busy with this.

Our first goal is to generate enough income to pay your Premium monthly fee. Then our next goal is to generate enough income to pay for our hosting and advertising expenses. Then... our next goal will be to generate enough income to support us as we work full-time at this. If we are successful, it will allow us to move back closer to our grand-kids in Maryland.

So... bottom line - We are motivated and ready to learn what it takes to be successful. I am happy to be here, and excited to be able to draw on such a deep well of knowledge.

Thank you for the welcome, Bob! I appreciate it.

My goals are realistic for me because I know exactly what I am committing myself to. This is not my first experience with affiliate marketing. You see, I was doing affiliate marketing years ago, in fact - it was the first venture I tried when I began doing business online back in 1998.

Online marketing was in its infancy back then, and I was learning a lot of things as rapidly as possible. Web design, graphic design, email marketing, Google Ads, Adsense, pointer pages, all associated with affiliate marketing.

Most likely I was doing too many things at once, and my focus was not where it needed to be. At any rate, because I was not making enough affiliate sales, I decided to try other things. Things like MLM, web hosting, SEO services, editing services, online stores selling products that I purchased at wholesale, then we tried
drop-shipping.... whew..... I was all over the place.

I learned a lot though. Had a few successes, but mostly failures. And now I am back full circle to something that I KNOW works. And this time I have the benefit of an awesome training system that beats anything I have ever come across!

I look forward to this journey.

Your friend,
Bill.

PS: Barbil is the name of our company that my wife, Barbara, and I started in 1998. She will be doing this with me.

Thanks Bill. Wow I'm sure things have changed alot over the years but you no-doubt have some skills that will pave your direction.
Interesting that your background includes heavy equipment... As does mine .. but in the heavy haulage/transport arena here in NZ.

Where are you based?

All the best to you and Barbara

We live in a little town in Texas, USA. I would love to see New Zealand. I just looked at a map, and WOW!!!! You are sitting in the ocean all by yourself. LOL

How far is it to Australia?

Aussie is around 2500km. About 3 1/2 hrs by plane. Close enough but far enough away you might say.
Thought I'd give you a little taste of where I live with my wife Faye.
We're in the South Island in the Canterbury Region, around 80km from Chch as the main city in the South.
We live in a Golf Resort called Terrace Downs. We've been here since March when we were locked down for Covid19... Bugger... What a place to have to isolate!

Beautiful pics, Bob!

It looks like the perfect place to retire! I play golf as well, although not well. But it is good exercise and a challenge, which I enjoy. (the challenge, the exercise not so much...)

Welcome to Premium where you'll meet lots of new friends, enjoy great training and support. Feel free to follow me and ask for questions if you need help.
Be sure to do each of the lessons and at the end of each lesson is a place for questions to Kyle, especially if you don't understand something.
We welcome you to blog here at WA and let us know how you're doing. Just remember to not put your website in your blog. That goes in your profile, where there is a place to put it. Just click on the Pen at the top of your dashboard, click on "blog at WA", write your title, choose your opening photo from the thousands of photos available and begin to write.
You will have a lot of questions. That’s normal. Most of your questions have been answered in the lessons, blogs, videos and tutorials. Ask questions at the end of each lesson. There is a place at the top of your WA dashboard where you can ask a question. Also, the chat roll is there to ask questions.
We're glad you're here and hope you enjoy your journey at WA.

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!

Whatever path got you here, congratulations for being in the right place at the right time.

So many people have either lost their jobs or forced to stay at home because of the unsafe times we're living in. More and more shopping is being done online. Why not use this major social shift to your advantage?

There is no other platform out there where you have EVERYTHING you need to create a vibrant business online.

You have the training, tools, top notch web hosting, help from all directions and a warm, supporting community to bounce your ideas off.

It will be up to you to go through the training at a useful pace. As well as do the actions given.

This will lead to writing a lot of articles for your website that in time will attract the volume of traffic necessary to register sales and commissions.

Just a bit of advice. In order to succeed you MUST do the right things right and instill affiliate marketing business building HABITS!

Good habits come with repetition. Be patient and never give up.

I wish you all the success in the world in your affiliate marketing journey.

Cheers!

Edwin

Hey Bill, welcome to WA and for becoming a Premium Member.

I hope you and your family are safe and well :-)

If you need any help or advice, be sure to ask. There are loads of helpful people here, myself included. Such a vast amount of skills & expertise for pretty much any topic or issue that you may have :-)

I wrote a blog post here containing a suggestion on how to ask questions to receive the best possible answer in the shortest time. Feel free to check this out below: I am also working on putting together an in-depth FAQ series. While I am building this out, feel free to check out this section which contains links to other members FAQ's below: Now that you are a Premium Member, you are possibly considering purchasing your own domain name or transferring an existing one that you already own to WA. When you get to this point, you might find the following tips helpful when it comes to moving your website on the SiteRubix subdomain to your own domain name. Another topic that comes up a lot is regarding where to find free images for your website. I have put together a blog post that contains some of these, as well as a workaround on how to get the images from SiteContent into your WordPress website (as you are unable to edit an Article in SiteContent after it has been published, all future updates must be made within your WordPress website), you can find this below: When you come to wanting/needing any comments, likes, shares and feedback for your website(s) and some social media sites, you can find the links in the post below: If you require any supplemental training, you can, of course, find this by using the Search Bar at the top of every page here. I have also categorised my own training for ease of use. You can find this here: Speak soon,
