Create profiles on major social media for your brand. This is a must.

A while back, I got a piece of advice from an SEO expert via newsletter. Google recently started allowing major social platforms to be added directly to Google Search Console, and according to this strategist, that changes everything about how seriously we should be treating our social profiles for SEO. Here's what I learned.

The Core Idea

The more active and consistent your social profiles are, the more authority they build in Google's eyes. Once that authority builds up, your posts start getting indexed on their own, no extra work needed. First you'll see your branded search terms popping up on page one. Then, over time, longtail keywords start showing up too.

The Platforms Worth Posting On Daily

According to this SEO expert, these are the platforms to be consistent on:YouTube videos – the obvious one, but still essentialYouTube Community Posts – apparently these are starting to rank really well right nowFacebook – but create a Group under your brand name instead of a Page.

Groups reportedly rank better

LinkedIn

X (formerly Twitter) – if the budget allows, Premium unlocks Articles, which rank better than regular postsInstagram

Threads

Pinterest

TikTok

Reddit – create your own subreddit under your brand

Substack – these articles tend to rank really well, though it can take a few months before they get indexed

Tumblr – posts here might not rank on their own, but they can act as backlinks pointing to your other content

Why Consistency Matters So Much

This was the part that stuck with me most. It's not about posting once and hoping. It's about posting multiple times a day, across all of these, and staying consistent for weeks. That consistency is what builds the authority that eventually gets your content indexed automatically.

What Comes After the Posts Start Ranking

Once your social posts start getting indexed and showing up in search, the expert suggested taking it a step further: create AI-generated pages using tools like Perplexity and Qwen, since these reportedly rank well for branded search terms.

And once everything, the social profiles and the AI pages, starts ranking, the final layer is press releases. Point them back to your website and to the social posts that are already ranking, to reinforce all of it even further.

I'll be upfront, I haven't tested every single piece of this myself yet, and SEO strategies shift constantly depending on niche and competition.

But the overall logic makes sense to me: build authority through consistency, let it compound, then reinforce it with press mentions once it's already working. It's not a shortcut, it's just a structured way of doing the work that actually moves the needle.

I'm planning to test this out properly across my own platforms over the coming weeks, and I'll be sharing how it goes as I go.

Have you ever added your social profiles to Google Search Console, or is this the first you're hearing of it?

Let me know in the comments, I'm curious how many of us are already doing this without realizing it!
