Focus Grasshopper.Focus (7 years later of being with WA)
Where in the world has the time gone?
It was 7 years ago this month that I joined Wealthy Affiliates.
It was also 7 years ago to the date August 9, 2012 that my brother went home to be with the Lord PLUS it's my birthday!!!
So many twists and turns along the way. So many different business ventures and shiney objects that had me out of focus YET brought me back in focus.
Have you ever felt or maybe you're going through it right now, the pull to go in so many different directions and you're having a hard time trying to figure out which way to go?
As a woman of faith I have cried out to God on so many occasions asking Him for direction and which way to go. Only to go in the direction I was feeling at that time.
Some of the business ventures I went on these past 7 years were:
- Put together a website that offered courses for the 55+ community to learn how to use all the different Social Media Sites
- Took those courses to the local Assisted Living Facilities and started teaching the elderly how to use the sites and their gidgets and gadgets their children bought them ie. tablets and smart phones
- Started a Coaching program with my sister teaching Empty Nesters how to build websites (this lasted for 8 months, put together the program and life happened so never even launched it)
- The entire year of 2018 became a Life Coach, had 10 clients, offered Vision Board Workshops and got to be a part of changing the lives of people all over the world.
- Worked on my Affiliate sites here and there but never really focused on just one of them so they are sporadically bringing in a little bit of money.
- Starting doing SEO work for local clients and quickly learned that I was getting overwhelmed because I never outsourced everything.
- Started helping my Dad with a project he has been working on helping him with his SEO efforts on that site
- Built up my YouTube Audience to over 5,000 subscribers but never really having a strategy or defining my demographic so it's all over the place
- Started offering SEO website audits to anyone who wanted it
- Started a business with my Cricut machine and offered wood signs, vinyl decals and personalized tumblers
Want to know the crazy thing???
I always felt led to come back to Wealthy Affiliates! I had even stopped my membership here for I think maybe a year or a little over a year but I missed it and so I came back!
I share all of this with you because if you are going through or experiencing this I have just a little piece of advice.
Go back to the beginning and remember what it is that you are passionate about.
This year I decided to get back to my passion for teaching the 55+ community how to use all this new technology and Social Media sites so they can stay connected to their family and friends. I've witnessed first hand how this combats lonliness and depression in the elderly and it brightens up their day because it gives them a sense of being needed and having purpose again.
I do this by offering FREE courses over at my site https:socialmedia4beginners.com as well as going to the Assisted Living Facilities locally and offering hands-on-training.
Since my focus is on ONE thing, I'm able to pump out video tutorials on my YouTube Channel and blog posts on my site. I'm finally bringing in the finances I always knew I could but never did because I was spread so thin.
The training here at Wealthy Affiliates has taught me so much about writing blogs/articles that realy resonate with my audience and offers them solutions to the problems they may be facing.
These past 7 years I've grown as a person and as a business owner.
I've realized the importance of FOCUS!
The importance of staying true to who you are and what you're called to do!
The importance of sharing your gifts and talents with others!
The importance of community!
The importance of dreaming BIG!
The importance of personal development!
The importance of Perseverance!
The importance of enjoying every moment of life!
My prayer and hope for you all is that starting today you will remember what inspires you, what ignites the fire within you, what passions you have and what your gifts are.
Go back to the reason you joined Wealthy Affiliate and focus on that...your WHY!
Have a Blessed Day and enjoy the moments you've been given.
Till next post...
Be Blessed,
Audrey

I can relate to you story in some sense. I am just starting out but I too joined WA a few years ago and left for an extended period of time. I had a lot going on in my life at the time. I decided to come back and give it a second shot. I am not giving up this time. No matter how long it takes me I will attempt to commit regularly to creating content. I can also relate to what you said about spreading yourself too thin. Although I have not taken action in any other areas I have all kinds of ideas regarding business ventures or making money. You made a valid point though which is to focus on ONE THING at a time. So that is what I am going to do. I will focus on making a commitment to WA here. I think that is what has been holding me back is that I have trouble committing to just one course of action. I wish to make money in the future from multiple income streams. But that will come in time. One thing at a time!
That is the key... One thing at a time! Since focusing on my Social Media 4 Beginners site I now have 3 streams of income coming in and by the end of the year, I should have 5 streams of income coming in. I found over these years that what came so naturally to me was teaching others in a way they could get. So many overcame their fears and frustrations and that kept leading me back to video tutorials. Find what you do naturally and show others how to do it.
If there is anything I can help you with please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'll help any way I can.
Be Blessed,
Audrey

Knowing that others also find it difficult to stay focused is comforting. However, just like learning anything else, repeating, learning, and growing is a journey. You don't get there overnight, and everything you do is not perfect or effective. You have to keep trying.
thanks for the share,
Sami
You got that right Sami, you have to keep trying and moving forward. My husband always tells me you can't steer an anchored ship, keep moving.
Thanks for reading and commenting, really appreciate it.
Be Blessed,
