When you offer "official certification" through the education channels, there are a lot of expensive processes you have to go through, thus we would have to probably charge 10-100x what we are currently charing for our services.
To me, certification is certification and if you know what you are talking about and can achieve results, that is where the merits lie within. That is exactly what you are learning here at WA and you can leverage this experience and knowledge set within any profile.
I think such process should only be optional. I saw similar stuff on hubspot, facebook blueprint and adwords certification.
