A Strange Email From Google Search Console

A Strange Email From Google Search Console

I recently received an email from Google Search Console that left me feeling a mix of excitement, curiosity, and confusion.

And this is the part that caught my attention:

“Google systems confirm that on April 12, 2026 we started collecting Google Search impressions for your website in Search Console. This means that pages from your website are now appearing in Google search results for some queries.”

At first, this sounds like a clear milestone.

My website is finally appearing in search results.

But something about it didn’t feel right.

The Exciting Part Is Clear

There’s no confusion about the positive side.

If my pages are appearing in search results, then visibility is increasing.

And that is progress.

It’s what I’ve been working toward all this time.

But This Email Doesn’t Match What I Saw

This email is about impressions, not indexing.

Impressions were already appearing in Search Console before April 12.

So when it says “we started collecting impressions,” that doesn’t match what I’ve been observing.

That’s where the confusion comes from.

What I Was Seeing Before

Before this email, the situation was:

  • Pages were “Crawled – not indexed”
  • Some pages got indexed, then dropped again
  • Impressions were already showing in reports

So impressions didn’t suddenly begin.

They were already there.

Indexing Was a Separate Issue

Indexing has been inconsistent, but understandable.

Some pages would:

  • Get indexed
  • Then disappear
  • Then return again

I tried submitting pages regularly, but it didn’t change much.

So I stopped focusing on that and shifted to content creation instead.

That part felt clearer.

The Real Question

So the question is not about indexing.

It is about the wording of this email.

If impressions were already happening, then what exactly changed on April 12?

Did something reach a threshold?

Is this a reporting update?

Or is this just the moment Google chose to acknowledge it?

Where I Stand Now

What I can see clearly is progress:

  • Impressions are increasing
  • Visibility is improving
  • The blog is being discovered more

But the email itself doesn’t fully reflect what I’ve been seeing over time.

And that is what made me pause.

Final Thought

I’m not questioning the progress.

It’s clearly there.

What I’m trying to understand is the signal.

Because sometimes the data is clear…

but the message around it is not.
