Most People Are Poor Examples

The older I get the easier it is for me to “tell it like it is”.If you are reading this, you may not agree with me, but it may not be the last time you disagree with me. My analogy stems from over 20 years of network marketing experience. And, I myself was a long time “poor example”.To prove my point, would you agree that most people are quitters? Is quitting not a poor example?

I have established many marketing teams over the years (Some people call them downlines, but I don’t like that terminology), and I have seen a lot more people quit than stay with a marketing company. They begin by lying to others and themselves about a product or service by posting links all over the cyber Universe. They even approach their friends and family about what they are selling.

Oops! I accused someone of lying. That’s not nice.Maybe I should use the term deceived or something a little milder. But you must consider the perception of the person you are or have recruited into your business opportunity. If you are not a lying, then you might as well be because that is how you will be perceived.Whether it is fair or not doesn’t matter because now, not only are you a poor example, your credibility is now jeopardized.Your credibility is jeopardized because you are a poor example. No one wants to follow quitters. Now, when you decide to jump to another business opportunity, you will find it even more difficult to acquire sign-ups.

There is nothing that upsets me more than when a person recruits me to join their team in a business opportunity and they themselves quit. What kind of example is that? And to make matter worse, they join a different business opportunity and try to recruit me for that one. “HOW DARE YOU”!

As a Wealthy Affiliate member you are taught to find a niche. But how about creating a website around the niche of “Being a good example”. That is definitely a topic that could drum up a large following.

A good example would be to find a niche around your passion. Stick with it and encourage others to do the same. If you follow your passion, then you will be less likely to quit.

I am going to wrap this up by saying, “Your NAME is all you have”. Guard it with your life. Be a good example.

To your success

Anton,I think that you expressed about being a good example very well. In our society today , we want instant success and if we don"t get it right away we quit.It is important that we keep our eye on the big picture. imagine having already accomplished your goal and experiencing ahead of time how it feels. Your reasons will keep you going when others are giving up.Thanks for the good blog

Rasia...You are right on. That's my primary driving force. I think everyday how it will be when I accomplish my goal. Much success to you.

I have an 8 year old little girl and I try to teach her that to be good at anything you have to try and it takes hard work. I don't encourage even the idea of the word quit. I get a little frustrated when trying to do this on-line business of mine but refuse to quit. Thank you for a great post.-Melva

I know exactly what you mean. I am a Bronze Team Leader with Strong Future International. I have over 200 Affiliates on my team, but only 8 of them are active. In a year I will have over 1000 affiliates and probably 40 of them will be active. But that's where we are in Network Marketing. You have to stick your head up over the crowd and identify other leaders like yourself.

Anton, I think that quitting is something that is part of our society these days in some regards. Everything is looking for instant gratification. Our "Twitter" and social media world requires people to get an answer or any info right now. If someone doesnt get the answer or the result they look for immediately, they quit.

It is upsetting, but that is part of us developing our thick skin and sense of perseverance. We become better leaders because we are willing to do what 90% of the population is not. Thats what will make us succesfull.

Thanks for the post!

I especially like your second paragraph. I teach my son that if you just don't quit in whatever you do, that alone will make you a winner because most people will bail out if their is sweat required.
