There's No One In The Boat!

In a dream, on a lake, in a small boat among others, surrounded by spirituality, struggling to meditate. Eventually, settled into meditation, everything was peaceful...

Suddenly, BANG!! Snapping out of meditation and straight into a tirade of abuse toward the empty boat that had been jostled loose and attracted to the small boat colliding with it. There's no one in the boat - the troubled waters created by the struggle attracted more struggle and more troubled waters. The realisation that there's no one in the boat, the realisation that these feelings were a figment of thinking a certain way, the realisation that there is only me...

Life can me simple or complicated. Life can be full of happiness or sadness. Life can be successful or unsuccessful. Life can be an adventure or a drudge. Life can be under your control or not. The only difference is a decision. A decision to keep it simple. A decision to be happy. A decision to be successful. A decision to venture out of comfort. A decision to take responsibility because there's no one in the other boat.

To activate these decisions there needs to be massive action. If there is no action then there was really no decision. The results of the decision are directly related to how much action is taken.

Of course the action may not be the perfect action for the results you are looking for so then you need to evaluate and accept responsibility for the changes that need to be made to get to the next level. Again, there is no one in the other boat. Success is an inside job and it's all about me!

My decisions followed by action activates my destiny. Whatever is part of my destiny is already present and it is up to me to reveal it by letting go of everything that is not part of my destiny. Letting go of the "not me" to reveal my unique self.

There is fear and there is love. Where there is love, fear cannot abide. Our unique self is hidden in fear and revealed in love. Losing ourselves in the service of others is sure to strengthen unconditional love and dispel any fear and the measure of our success is in the bank.

Our goal: To solve as many problems as possible, serve as many clients as possible.

Our result: The more we lose ourselves in the service of our clients the more money will appear in the bank. Focus on the client and let the bank account look after itself.

So you see, the boats that hit us are the lessons we need to learn - not people out to harass us. The sooner we learn the lessons the sooner the boats stop hitting us. Why not learn the lessons before they come after us? What if we could prevent all those empty boats from hitting us? After all, unless we take responsibility for whatever happens we relinquish control and can't fix anything. How can we learn what we need to know so the lessons won't need to come after us in empty boats?

Mentors

Hang out with and learn from people who have done what you want to do. Follow them and do what they do and you will have what they have. Read books and watch videos by these people and those you don't have access to hang out with. Research, observe and learn from every situation you find yourself in. The more you learn from situations, the less empty boats will hit you.

Community

Carefully choose supportive, nurturing communities to join that will be there when the chips are down. Sometimes we have to spend time with critical and less than supportive individuals. Limit these times and make sure you keep in touch with your support communities. Do not try to go it alone!

Accountability Buddy

Find someone who will keep you accountable. Make a commitment to report to each other your goals and achievements and help each other with your set backs. Community is important and makes sure you are not alone. A buddy who has a mutual commitment to you is there for the difficulties that community need not be privy to. Your buddy should be someone who you can count on. At the same time, you need to be someone your buddy can count on.

Time Out

Take time to reflect, meditate, and evaluate your thoughts. Time to yourself with no distractions. Time to challenge your thinking and your actions. Time being as opposed to doing. Time for a break to regroup, refresh and restart. Time out to pamper and spoil and come back stronger. This time should not be wasted. Make the most of every moment. Check what you are doing and decide whether or not it is making you smile, making you well or making you abundant. If not, consider changing what you are doing.

Happiness Activities

Schedule time for the things you love that are not part of your productivity. This is similar to time out only you are choosing to participate in an activity that you would ordinarily not have time for. I play the piano. That is to say I can play and I used to play but I have not scheduled time for it so I don't actually play the piano. I have now added making music to my schedule as one of my happiness activities.

So life is not meant to be easy. What reward could possibly be had from an easy life? Accept the gifts and learn the lessons. Take responsibility for your happiness. Love everyone and love life! Be grateful - you are blessed!

I like and believe that there are people who can mentor you. Just like there are negative influences that cause us to do things we wouldn't normally do. This is especially true when we are young.

Hi Ed,
If only we were taught while young to look for people who we could learn from instead of just having teachers who stifled learning to fulfill a curriculum agenda. School teaches us that school is where you learn. There's so much more to learn if we learn haw to learn!
Cheers,
~Cherie
